The 2015 Alabama Coastal Cleanup is scheduled for  Saturday, September 19th from 8:00 a.m. until noon.  This is the 28th year of the State's largest annual volunteer event.  Involved citizens, school groups, businesses and clubs walk or boat in 28 different zones throughout Mobile and Baldwin Counties.  Volunteers pick up what they find and record the data which is then submitted to The Ocean Conservancy to track what is getting into our oceans.  The information is used for education on the source of the debris and its effect on the environment.  During the past 27 years, over 77,000 volunteers have removed more than 1.5 million pounds of trash from Alabama's valued coastline and waterways.  Join us this year as we continue to make Alabama the Beautiful!

Supplies are limited. On the day of the event, come prepared with sunscreen, a hat, gloves, shoes and lots of water. It gets HOT!

If you'd like to be involved with the 28th Annual Alabama Coastal Cleanup, please visit www.AlabamaCoastalCleanup.com for a zone nearest you or call (251) 928-9792.

Bay Minette Kiwanis Club Launches Shoe Collection Drive to
Raise money for BCHS Scholarships

Shoe donations will also support micro-enterprises in developing nations and reduce what goes into landfills.

The Bay Minette Kiwanis Club is conducting a shoe collection drive from September 10th to November 1st 2015 to raise funds for Baldwin County High School Scholarships.  The Club will earn funds based on the number of pairs collected as Funds2Orgs will purchase all of the donated goods.  Those dollars will benefit graduating seniors in 2016.   Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used or new shoes, boots, high heels, flip flops, sandals, etc., at several Bay Minette locations including the Bay Minette Public Library, City Hall and North Baldwin Infirmary Fitness Center or notifying any Kiwanian for pickup.
