"Can you help us make a difference?"

The Amigos de Guatemala are desperately looking for two individuals with at least some construction experience to take part in a one-week support trip to Monte Margarita.  These individuals would be asked to work side by side with our partners in Monte Margarita to build walls and help troubleshoot any construction issues that may arise during the week.  The trip will take place either the last week in May or, if necessary, in June.  Given the tight schedule, preference  is for individuals who already have passport.  Additional details and background info will be provided.  If interested, please contact Karen Heim at  rksdheim@rcn.com or 610-481-9704.

Children's Sermon
for May 7(based on John 10:1-10)
Items needed: 2 cans of soda; sharp knife; basin; glass.   Hold up one of the cans of soda and tell kids you are going to open can.  Then, open can by taking the sharp knife and piercing a hole in the side.  Hold can over the basin!  I opened the can, but is this a good way to do it.  Why not?  (dribbles down side, sharp knife can be dangerous)  What's another way, a better way, to open a can of soda---use the pull tab on top (demonstrate with other can)   Why is this better--less messy, don't need knife, now it's easy to pour--pour into glass.)  In today's Bible reading, Jesus says He is the gate for the sheep--a gate is the best way for sheep to go in and out of a fence, just like this pull-tab at the top of the soda can is the best way to open the can.  So Jesus is like the pull-tab on the top of a soda can---Jesus opens us up to the flowing of God's love (pour soda into glass.)
