The PNEC Sunday supply list has been updated.  If you have a copy of the older list, please toss it and download a new one by clicking here or you can also find it on the PNEC website

As you know PNEC and PSEC formed PNEC logo
a transition team to begin discussions about how we might work together. A Vision for this work was approved at the April 2017 Annual Meeting. A new team to help us move forward has been formed. It is called the Joint Conference Vision and Development Team. As a part of our work we want to gather information from as many constituencies in the church as possible. Click Here for a survey.  Please copy the survey and distribute it widely to your congregation. It will be helpful to us to have the completed survey forwarded to us by the end of October. We will be happy to report back on our findings after our November 2017 meeting.  We value your input and thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.

Children's Sermon
for Oct. 29 (based on Mt. 22:34-46)
Items needed:  Grocery bag containing an open bag of flour, open bag of sugar, and other baking items (eg. baking soda, salt, chocolate chips, etc), teaspoon, apron, mixing bowl, wooden spoon.  Ask for a volunteer.  Put apron on him/her and give them the bowl and the wooden spoon.  Let's pretend (child's name) is a cook and would like to make something good to eat  I will give him/her a little of my flour and a little of my sugar (use teaspoon to put in child's bowl a small amount of  flour and sugar.)  Now, what can they do with what I've given them---not much.  But if I were to give her/him my whole bag of groceries, she/he could use what's inside (pull out of bag and show items) to make many good things. In today's Bible reading, Jesus talks about how we are to love God.  Jesus says we are to love God by trying to give every part of ourselves to God.  It's like me and (volunteer's name.)   If I just give him/ her a little, not much can be done.  But if I give them my whole bag of groceries, they can make many good things, just like God can make many good things with my life if I give my whole life to God.

Friends of the Jubilee Ministry,
That nip in the air is a reminder that cold weather is on the way! The warming station on MLK Drive for those who are homeless will reopen the evening of November 1, and our first breakfast will be served at Zion's church, 620 W. Hamilton St., Allentown on Thursday morning, November 2.
How You Can Help!
Register to volunteer.  We need kitchen helpers to prepare, serve and cleanup on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 6:30 a.m. - 9:00 a.m. Our Signup Genius page isn't quite ready, but in the meantime our volunteer coordinator, Dennis Dries, already has been in touch with some of the groups who volunteered last year. If you'd like to volunteer or have any questions, please contact him directly:
Be sure to refamiliarize yourself with basic information and review food service regulations
Help us to restock our shelves with some of the basics: paper napkins, coffee, sugar, non-dairy creamer, salt & pepper (big box!), canned or shelf-stable bottled juice, canned fruit; and jelly. Drop off at the church, Mondays-Fridays, 9:30 a.m - 3:00 p.m.
Town Hall Meeting
The Joint Conference Visioning and Development Team (JCVDT) invites everyone...clergy, lay leaders, and church members to a town hall meeting on:
Thursday, November 16 from 6:30-8:00 pm.
Zion UCC, 2nd & Iron Sts., Lehighton
The JCVDT is the team of people from northeast and southeast Pennsylvania who have been working together to develop a vision for a new Eastern Pennsylvania Conference. We invite you to be a part of this conversation to learn the work we have been up to, and we would love to receive your input into this process. We value your input and insights into discerning what it means to be the body of Christ and function as a conference in eastern Pennsylvania. Everyone is invited and we welcome you to join us!
