Children's Sermon for
for Nov. 20 (based on  Luke 23:33-43)   Items needed:  a cross about 24 inches high, 6-foot ladder.   Bring out the cross and ask the kids what it is.  Before they can answer, tell them that this is the letter,  "t."  And the letter, "t,"  stands for the word, "together."  Bring out ladder.  Ask an older child, or an adult, to climb up the  ladder.  That person stands  for God Above.  And you(the speaker) are down here on earth.  Ask the person being God to grasp the top part of cross.  You  grasp the bottom.  See, the cross of Jesus has brought God Above, and me down on earth, together.  So this (the cross) is the letter "t," which stands for "together." (Volunteer on ladder can come down now.)  Then ask  for two kid volunteers and ask them to stand about two feet apart.  Ask one of them to grasp one end of the crossbar and the other grasps the other end.  Just like the cross of Jesus can bring God Above together  with a person, the cross also brings people together.  When I believe in Jesus, that bring me together with other people.  So, you can think of the  Cross of Jesus as the letter "t," because it brings us together with God and other people
