The annual off-season dance of Palm Beach businesses closing and moving into new spots around town has begun in force on Royal Poinciana Way, accelerated this year by disruptive construction and increasing rents on the street, some of those business owners say.

The debate about what to do with the Royal Poinciana Playhouse has been roiling since its last tenant, Clear Channel Entertainment, vacated the historic 60-year-old theater 14 years ago, saying it was no longer viable as a Broadway show road house.

Palm Beach Town Councilman Sets Office Hours to Meet 
with Constituents

Town Councilman Lew Crampton said Monday that he will hold regular office hours to hear constituents' concerns. Beginning next week, Crampton will be available from 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays in the council offices on the second floor of Town Hall.

Makeover to Lake Trail in 
Palm Beach Continues
Lake Trail
Work is being done to improve a number of the access paths to the Lake Trail. Last summer, the main pedestrian path, which starts at The Society of the Four Arts, was upgraded. This year, the work on access paths, done by R&D Paving, is being divided between May and June.
Condo Building Near Palm Beach 'Tops Out' With Addition 
of Seventh Floor

An under-construction oceanfront condominium just south of Palm Beach has "topped out," meaning that its penthouse floor is now in place in the 3500 block of South Ocean Boulevard. The 30-unit, seven-floor building - named 3550 South Ocean, after its address - was developed by DDG and is being built by KAST Construction. The contemporary-style building is expected to be completed by next spring.

Mobility Study Under Scrutiny
Okeechobee Corridor
The Florida Department of Transportation and the Palm Beach County Commission have sent letters expressing their concerns about the congestion on Okeechobee Blvd. In June, FDOT is calling together all affected parties to discuss their concerns about the City of West Palm Beach Mobility Study and the plan for the Okeechobee Corridor. The Town of Palm Beach and Civic Association will be represented.

School Mental Health Services to Expand in Palm Beach County

Palm Beach County families will see dramatic improvements in school mental health services starting next year, thanks to a new state law passed after the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School massacre in February.
