SPRING CLEAN-UP
We will be opening the Public Works yard for homeowners to bring yard debris the month of May.
The hours will be Monday - Friday 8:00am - 3:00pm and Saturday 8:00am - 4:00pm. NO PLASTIC BAGS!

BULK PICK UP DAY
Saturday, May 21st - 6AM 
  • Residents must have items for collection out by 6:00AM
  • Public works will dispose of it at their convenience
  • Materials placed for pick up any other time will not be collected
  • We do not go on private property
  • Small items must be placed in a container at the edge of road and weigh no more than 100 lbs.
  • Regular household garbage and yard waste is not part of this collection
  • Furniture(couches,recliners,tables),waste lumber, plastic chairs, electronics (televisions,sterios,radios) large appliances (washer and dryers) plumbing fixtures (bathtubs,toilets,sinks)
  • Do not use Republic Services cans
  • This does not include construction material from active project, Hazardous or flammable  materials, paints, tires, automobile batteries, oil or petroleum products, rocks, bricks or dirt
  • Door must be removed from large appliances.

The County's Public Works Dept of Water and Waste Water sent the following  tentative schedule for hydrant flushing in our area, please note that any  issues such as water leaks may cause delays in the schedule.  For more info contact them @ 410.641.5251.

Commissioners Bunting and Bertino Budget Meeting

Worcester County Commissioners Jim Bunting (District 6) and Chip Bertino (District 5) will hold a joint town meeting on Thursday, April 14 at 6:30 pm at the Ocean Pines library to discuss the Fiscal 2017 Worcester County budget.

The meeting will include a presentation of the budget by the county finance team.  The proposed FY17 budget includes general fund revenues of $187.4 million.  Requested operating expenditures are $193.9 million, leaving a shortfall of $6.5 million that must be reconciled either by reductions in expenditures, additional revenues or a combination of the two.

Arbor Day Memorial Tree Planting Ceremony

Sponsored by the Ocean Pines Garden Club. A tree will be planted in memory of loved ones who passed away in 2015. The ceremony is open to all. Worcester County Household Hazardous Waste & Electronics Recycling
Saturday, April 23     10:00 am - 2:00 pm
West Ocean City Park & Ride Lot
Sponsored by the recycling division of Worcester County Public Works. Household hazardous waste including pesticides, pool chemicals, gas and other fuels, oil-based paints, thinners and everyday hazardous waste may be dropped off for recycling. Electronic items including computers, monitors, keyboards, printers, radios, televisions and VCRs will also be collected. This is a free event for Worcester County residents only. Mid-Atlantic Symphony Orchestra Season Finale
Sunday, May 1     3:00 pm
Community Church at Ocean Pines
$38 per person concert / $75 per person gala dinner
The season will conclude with this "Romantic Legends" concert featuring Arnaud Sussmann, violinist. He will perform Violin Concerto in D Minor, Opus 47 by Sibelius. Additional orchestral works will include "In the Steppes of Central Asia" by Borodin and Symphony No. 5 in D Major/D Minor, Opus 10, known as the "Reformation," composed by Mendelssohn. An end-of-season gala at the Ocean Pines Yacht Club will follow the concert. This fundraiser will include a plated dinner, cash bar, music, silent auctions and raffles. Reservations for dinner must be made by April 26. Tickets for both events are available by contacting Gale Alford at 410-208-1590 or [email protected].

Buckingham K-Kids & American Cancer Society Relay for Life Fundraiser

Buckingham Elementary K-Kids, one the of the Kiwanis student leadership clubs, is raising money for this year's Relay for Life event. Donations may be made online at  www.relayforlife.org/northworcestermd. Use zip code "21842" and team "BES Believers." Luminaria bags ($10), Caregivers bags ($5) and tiki torches ($25) may also be ordered. These items will be lit at sundown in memory of, or in honor of, loved ones and friends who have or have had and survived cancer or who have passed away from cancer.
