St. John on the Mountain
Upcoming Events

Prayers and Worship for this Sunday
At both services of worship on Sunday, we will have 26 candles on the altar, remembering those who died in Texas last week, and we will offer special music and prayers on behalf of the people whose lives were affected by such violence.

Stewardship Thanks

Mountaintop Moments
Sunday, November 12
For three Sundays this fall, we are offering a new way to know each other better: MOUNTAINTOP MOMENTS.  At our next meeting, November 12, stories of generosity and gratitude will be the theme of the day. For example, when in your life has someone been generous with you?  When did someone's generosity "save you?"
Please join us!

Turkey Collection
We are collecting turkeys for Thanksgiving at the Food Bank. Please bring a frozen turkey or turkey breast to church on Sunday, November 12th or place it in the freezer in the garage by Wednesday, November 15th. They will be distributed on Saturday, November 18th. We also need cans of pumpkin and cranberry sauce.
Confirmation Class Schedule
There will not be confirmation class this Sunday, Nov. 12th. Next Saturday , Nov. 18th, we will be meeting at the Food Pantry in Somerville from 9:15am - noon.  The pantry is located in the rear of the United Reformed Church at 100 West Main St. We will be bagging and distributing food to clients.  There will be no class on the Nov. 19th.  We will have class again on Sunday, Nov. 26th.

Adopt-a-Family
Help save a struggling family's Thanksgiving and Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family.  A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board near Parish Hall.  Please email Sue Kennedy with any questions.  If you have a particular family you have been supporting in the past, please let Sue know so that she can inform the Food Bank.

Food Pantry in November
St. John on the Mountain will staff the Food Pantry in Somerville each Saturday in November. This is an important outreach ministry to the needy in our community and is an excellent opportunity for youth to earn community service hours.  We need volunteers Saturday November 4, 11, 18, and 25 from 9:30 am - 11:30 am.  The pantry is located in the rear of the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. There is municipal parking behind the church, near the entrance of the food pantry. Tasks involve bagging and distributing food and receiving and interviewing clients.  To sign up or for further information please email Sally Hespe.
