The Last Sunday after Pentecost:  Christ the King

Stewardship Thanks

Frozen Turkeys Needed
We are collecting frozen turkeys for distribution to the Food Bank. If you would like to donate a frozen turkey, please bring it to the Church and put it in the freezer in the garage by Friday, November 18th. (Note that a smaller turkey - or just a turkey breast - is a better donation as many of the clients have small families and/or cooking spaces)
Nominations for Vestry
The nominating committee has been formed and will be working in the coming weeks to nominate Four Vestry members and a new Warden for the coming year.  The Vestry is an essential part of our community, and those interested in being nominated for this leadership ministry ought to be members of St. John's who are regular attenders of worship and who support the parish financially.  They should be passionate about this parish and its people, and willing to serve in areas of ministry that are in line with their gifts and talents.    If you would like to nominate someone for this ministry,  please email  Bob Courtemanche or Steve Sbaraglio who will be co-chairing the Nominating Committee.  Also serving on this committee are the Rector, Joy Baird, Margot Lewis, Michael Mitchell and Patty Vollmar.  Thank you for helping us prayerfully discern this important part of our life together!
Confirmation Class & Sunday School  Schedule
There's no Confirmation class on Sunday, November 20 or 27.  On Saturday the 19th the Confirmation class will be meeting at the food bank in Somerville. Please note that there  is Sunday School on November 20.  There will be no Sunday School on November 27; instead please join us in making Advent Wreaths at 10 am in Parish Hall.
Fostering Love
Fostering Love - CASA SHaW  serves the Somerset, Hunterdon, and Warren (SHaW) counties of New Jersey. They are the voice of children in foster care, and they work to ensure that every child is provided an opportunity to be placed into a safe, loving, and permanent home.   Seventy percent of the children are under the age of 13; the remaining children are under the age of 18.  This fall the  Church of St. John on the Mountain  is collecting items for these foster children in NJ. Please consider p urchasing a duffle bag and filling it with toiletries, a stuffed animal, and a book; or purchasing a backpack and filling it with school supplies, a stuffed animal, and a book; or purchasing a gift card for $25 or $50 from Walmart, Target, Kohl's, or GameStop. Items can be dropped off in the church office until December 21st.  For more information about CASA, please click here

Volunteers Needed for Food Bank
St. John on the Mountain will staff the Food Pantry in Somerville each Saturday in November. This is an important outreach ministry to the needy in our community and is an excellent opportunity for youth to earn community service hours.  We need volunteers Saturday November 19 and 26 from 9:15 to noon.   The pantry is located in the rear of the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. There is municipal parking behind the church, near the entrance of the food pantry. Tasks involve bagging and distributing food and receiving and interviewing clients.  Click here to sign up on line. For further information please email  Sally Hespe .
