Nominations for Vestry
The nominating committee has been formed and will be working in the coming weeks to nominate Four Vestry members and a new Warden for the coming year.  The Vestry is an essential part of our community, and those interested in being nominated for this leadership ministry ought to be members of St. John's who are regular attenders of worship and who support the parish financially.  They should be passionate about this parish and its people, and willing to serve in areas of ministry that are in line with their gifts and talents.    If you would like to nominate someone for this ministry,  please email  Bob Courtemanche or Steve Sbaraglio who will be co-chairing the Nominating Committee.  Also serving on this committee are the Rector, Joy Baird, Margot Lewis, Michael Mitchell and Patty Vollmar.  Thank you for helping us prayerfully discern this important part of our life together!

Food for Fenn

Sunday, November 12
The Outreach Commission has designated every November "Food for Fenn" month in honor of its beloved leader, Fenn Putman.  Fenn was an inspiration to us all. We remember his outstanding dedication to the hungry at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and Grace's Soup Kitchen at Grace Church, Plainfield. In recognition of this fine man we propose to flood the Food Bank with "Food for Fenn." once again this year. We ask all parishioners to step to up their efforts this month and bring donations of food or money to provide for the hungry guests who arrive at the Food Bank in Somerville every Saturday morning. We still have some of the commemorative shopping bags to encourage your efforts. You can pick one up in the Narthex.  We welcome all types of non-perishable food, plus hams and frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving meals.  We will collect the frozen turkeys for distribution on November 19th. Please bring them to the Church on Sunday November 12th, or at the latest, by Thursday, November 17th.. They should be left in the freezer in garage (behind the Parish House.)
Adopt a Family
Help save a struggling family's Thanksgiving and Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family.  A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board near Parish Hall.  Please call Sue Kennedy at 908-234-0267 with any questions.  If you have a particular family you have been supporting in the past, please let Sue know so that she can inform the Food Bank.
Volunteers Needed for Food Bank
St. John on the Mountain will staff the Food Pantry in Somerville each Saturday in November. This is an important outreach ministry to the needy in our community and is an excellent opportunity for youth to earn community service hours.  We need volunteers Saturday November 5, 12, 19, and 26th from 9:15 to noon.   The pantry is located in the rear of the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. There is municipal parking behind the church, near the entrance of the food pantry. Tasks involve bagging and distributing food and receiving and interviewing clients.  Click here to sign up on line. For further information please email  Sally Hespe .
2017 Stewardship
By now you should have received your Stewardship letter for 2017.  If you haven't already done so, please return your 2017 Pledge Card ASAP, as the Vestry needs them to make their budget decisions for the upcoming year.  Click for extra pledge cards, find them i n the narthex or call the office 908-766-2282 to have one sent to you.
