A big "Thank You"...
Thank you to all the many wonderful volunteers who made last weekend so much fun!  The Fall Fun Fest and Art Class last weekend were successful and all the participants had a wonderful time.  A special thank you to Nina Dixon and the many talented people who worked alongside of her for so many weeks!
Children & Youth Choir Meet and Greet
Sunday, October 30
Parents, children, and youth: Grab a cup of coffee and meet our new Director of Music, Christopher Jennings in the Choir Room after the 10 am liturgy on Sunday, October 30th. We are eager to begin a new music program for children and youth and want your input and ideas. If you cannot attend but are interested in learning more, please contact Christopher.
All Saints' Day Dedications
During the Sunday service on November 6th, we will remember in prayer the names of those who have been buried from St. John on the Mountain during the past year.  In addition to reading the list of names of those who died this year, we invite you to share with us the names of those you have loved and lost.  Please send us those names, and we will remember them before God when we celebrate the Feast of All Saints.  Forms are available on-line, in the office, or in the narthex.  Please return your dedication to the office by Friday, October 28th.
Food for Fenn

Sunday, November 12
The Outreach Commission has designated every November "Food for Fenn" month in honor of its beloved leader, Fenn Putman.  Fenn was an inspiration to us all. We remember his outstanding dedication to the hungry at the Food Bank Network of Somerset County and Grace's Soup Kitchen at Grace Church, Plainfield. In recognition of this fine man we propose to flood the Food Bank with "Food for Fenn." once again this year. We ask all parishioners to step to up their efforts this month and bring donations of food or money to provide for the hungry guests who arrive at the Food Bank in Somerville every Saturday morning. We still have some of the commemorative shopping bags to encourage your efforts. You can pick one up in the Narthex.  We welcome all types of non-perishable food, plus hams and frozen turkeys for Thanksgiving meals.  We will collect the frozen turkeys for distribution on November 19th. Please bring them to the Church on Sunday November 12th, or at the latest, by Thursday, November 17th.. They should be left in the freezer in garage (behind the Parish House.)
Adopt a Family
Help save a struggling family's Thanksgiving and Christmas by providing an uncooked meal.  It's easy!  Just buy the makings for a meal, and deliver it uncooked to your Adopt-a-Family.  A sign-up sheet is posted on the bulletin board near Parish Hall.  Please call Sue Kennedy at 908-234-0267 with any questions.  If you have a particular family you have been supporting in the past, please let Sue know so that she can inform the Food Bank.
Volunteers Needed for Food Bank
St. John on the Mountain will staff the Food Pantry in Somerville each Saturday in November. This is an important outreach ministry to the needy in our community and is an excellent opportunity for youth to earn community service hours.  We need volunteers Saturday November 5, 12, 19, and 26th from 9:15 to noon.   The pantry is located in the rear of the United Reformed Church, 100 West Main Street, Somerville. There is municipal parking behind the church, near the entrance of the food pantry. Tasks involve bagging and distributing food and receiving and interviewing clients.
Click here to sign up on line. For further information please contact Sally Hespe.
2017 Stewardship
By now you should have received your Stewardship letter for 2017.  If you haven't already done so, please return your 2017 Pledge Card ASAP, as the Vestry needs them to make their budget decisions for the upcoming year.  Extra pledge cards can be found on the web at www.sjotm.org , in the narthex or call the office 908-766-2282 to have one sent to you.
Pastoral Care Meeting
Thursday, November 3
The next meeting of the Pastoral Care Committee is November 3rd.  If you would like to have someone added to the Prayer List, please call 908-766-2282 or email the Parish Office.
Women's Bible Study
Thursday, November 3
This fall we will explore the women of the Old Testament, whose rich stories are often forgotten or misunderstood. This study is influenced and inspired by the work of friend of the parish, Mother Ann Holt, whom we hope will be able to join us for some sessions.  Join us!  No previous experience with the Bible needed! We gather at 10 am in the Parish House Meeting Room.
