Parrott Football Golf Classic

12:00pm barbeque lunch; 1:00pm Tournament. Southern Hills Plantation Golf Club, 4200 Summit View Drive (off US-41 south), Brooksville. Join this four-person scramble format tournament. Special contests will include a hole in one, longest drive, and closest to the pin. The event will also include a 50/50 raffle and silent auction. Butterfly Census Friday

9:00am-11:00am. Chinsegut Conservaion Center, 23212 Lake Lindsey Road (CR-476, 1 mile west of US-41 north), Brooksville. You are invited to join our monthly butterfly census day. Volunteer Bev Hansen will lead the survey and will teach participants to identify butterfly species using binoculars. The butterflies are already about, so come help count butterflies and contribute to an important research project! As a bonus, Bev is one of the best birders in the county so you may learn some birding skills too! Your business or team ($50.00 per team) will build your own corn launcher for the "Corn Launching Tournament" with a 50/50 prize to the winner. License Free Fishing Days for Saltwater Fishing

Free fishing days provide an excellent opportunity for parents who don't yet have licenses to take youth fishing, or avid anglers to introduce a friend to fishing without having to purchase a license. On these days, the fishing license requirement is waived for all recreational anglers (residents and non-residents). The saltwater waiver applies to any recreational harvest requiring a saltwater fishing license (e.g., crabbing, lobstering, scalloping, etc.) as well as fishing from shore or a boat. National Trail Day

Celebrate National Trail Day with the Conservation Center staff by helping to restore the Sink Hole Spur Nature Trail at Chinsegut. Cutting and removing vegetation and other prep work is planned; participants must bring work gloves, a water bottle, and be able to walk approx one-half mile to and from the site. National Marina Day

9:00am -5:00pm. Blue Pelican Marina, 5000 Calienta Street, Hernando Beach. Join with other volunteers to collect shoreline trash on the Hernando Beach Channel Islands in celebration of National Marina Day. The marina's pontoon boats will shuttle volunteers to and from the Islands on an hourly basis from 12:00pm to 3:00pm. Volunteer boaters with their own boats can pick-up free trash bags (provided by Spring Hill Home Depot) at the Marina. The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer free boat safety inspections, decals and training information from 11:00am-1:00pm. Free window stickers for kids and prize drawings for volunteers. Regional Sweeper Bowling Tournament

1:00pm. Spring Hill Lanes, 3447 Commercial Way (US-19), Spring Hill. This is a six-game scratch Sweeper Tournament for anyone interested in winning an entry into the PBA Regional Tournament, a prelude to the Pro Tournament on July 21. The entry fee is $42.00 per bowler before June 30. Cheer on your local bowlers as they roll their A-games for top spots. 25th Annual PBA Southern Regional Tournament

SPRING HILL LANES, 3447 Commercial Way (US-19), Spring Hill. Friday, July 12: 10:00am-12:00pm. The pro's get to warm up with free practice sessions on all lanes. Flash photography is permitted at all times during the practice session. Junior PRO-AM Tournaments: 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:00pm, and 8:30pm. Here's a chance for all junior Youth Bowlers to bowl with professional bowlers in a 3-game handicapped event. This is the opportunity of a lifetime for many! The entry fee is $17.00. Regular and Senior Division Bowlers Pro-Am Tournaments: 12:30pm, 3:30pm, 6:00pm, and 8:30pm. This is the chance for all sanctioned bowlers to bowl with the professionals. The cost is $30.00 for the Regular Division and $25.00 for the Senior Division. Trophies will be awarded in all tournaments. Saturday, July 13: 10:00am. The pros are bowling in one squad as PBA Hall of Fame members, nationally ranked players, regional standouts and the best in local talent lay it on the line. The top 16 will advance to compete in the finals on Sunday. Sunday, July 14: 10:00am. The finals will consist of 12 Head to Head matches. 3:00pm-The TV Format Finals will follow the match play on Sunday with the top four players battling it out for top honors on the lanes.
