THE HMX PTA NEEDS YOU

It is really important to stay connected to your child in middle school, and the PTA has volunteer roles that will fit every lifestyle. T he Hommocks PTA needs you.

We are compiling a list of open positions for next school year and already know we need help with the following roles:
  •  Photo Day Co-Chair: Help create school photo memories by coordinating the students to have their photos taken.
  • 6th Grade Yearbook Editor: Photographers (one from each elementary school to ensure all 6th grade students are captured in the Yearbook).
  • PTA Membership Chairs: Form a team to sell PTA membership at key school events.
  • Merchandise Co-Chair: Help design, purchase, sell and distribute school spirit merchandise.
Please click here to view the overall list of open chair/committee positions and to sign up, and click here to see the role descriptions.

If you would rather work as part of a committee for events such as Movie Night, 6th grade Fun Day and Fall Ball and the Heritage Dinner, then  click here  to see more details and to sign up. Super easy, super fun and a great way to meet new parents and make new friends.

FRIENDLY REMINDERS FROM THE LIBRARY

While you are spring cleaning this year, please keep your eye out for Hommocks Library books! Encourage students to look in their rooms, lockers, book bags etc. We do not charge fines, but we would love to have the library's books back so others can enjoy. Please email Mrs. Cohen with any questions.

Don't forget . . . Students may borrow books over the summer!

We will start summer circulation the week of June 11th. Books will be due back the first Friday of the new school year.

Also, don't forget about our Overdrive collection of ebooks and audiobooks. All students have free access to thousands of titles! If students needs assistance accessing or downloading, please have them see Mrs. Cohen in the Library.

Have a great summer full of great books!

THE ROCKET RIDES AGAIN!

Six weeks ago, we relaunched the Hommocks Rocket Composter. It's been a tremendous team effort by parents, community volunteers, staff and students.

Since April 10th, our students have been recycling their food waste during lunchtime. That food waste has been fed into the Rocket to be converted into compost to enrich our Hommocks vegetable garden.

We wanted to show you a video so you could learn more about this process. Please share it with your children.

Thanks to everyone for what has been a great team effort. We hope the students keep up the green efforts at home this summer. Stay tuned for more Rocket news once school opens in September.
