A note from TI member and Racial Justice Task Force Chair Andy Tarsy:
In December, The Boston Globe's renowned Spotlight team produced a seven-part series entitled " Boston.Race.Image.Reality" and in so doing, added an important chapter to a story the city has been living for decades. For Temple Israel and for much of the community the series was a reminder of well-known legacies, patterns, disparities and barriers both formal and informal. Those for whom these challenges circumscribe their experience of living here did not need the reminder. The burden shifts to us - all of us - to respond with appropriate urgency and sophistication. What does it mean for Temple Israel and for each of us as individuals to be a more effective part of the solution?
