Dear Neighbors
One day it's hot and the next day it's cold. Gusty or calm, raining or not. Sometimes the weather forecast is correct, sometimes not. We're in the midst of beautiful March. As one of the Beaver Creek Transit riders says, "this is Mother Nature's menopause".
Thanks to the Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, the annual free dump days have started at the Camp Verde Transfer Station. Please dump now and don't regret later about missing this great opportunity.
Saturday is the annual Trek For Tech with registration starting at Rollins Park in Lake Montezuma at 7:30 AM. The 10K starts at 8 AM and the 5K begins at 8:30. This is a fundraiser organized by the Friends of Beaver Creek Library to help continue and
 improve technology services in the Beaver Creek Library.
Our Copper Canyon Fire & Medical first responders have been busy as usual. Some of their efforts are included below.

Thursday, Fridays, Saturdays, 3/22 thru 4/7-FREE DUMP DAYS
at the Camp Verde Transfer Station, 2600 E. Hwy 260, 7 miles East of I-17 from 8 AM to 4 PM.
District 2 Supervisor Tom Thurman and The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, working with the Public Works Department, is pleased to announce a community cleanup in the Verde Valley.
Accepted items are: household appliances,
TV's
, bagged trash, auto batteries, unmounted tires, furniture, and yard trimmings. Items that will not be accepted: loose trash, liquids, hazardous materials, cars, Ni Cad batteries, dead animals and any commercial dumping. Copper Canyon Fire & Medical at Work
On March 22
at approximately 12 PM, Copper Canyon Fire & Medical Authority responded to an auto accident on I-17 SB mp 282. The vehicles appeared to have rolled at least one time. Upon arrival there were 2 vehicles, one which was towed by the other. A total of 2 occupants were transported via medical helicopter to area hospitals. Fire crews also took a family dog to a local animal hospital. The cause of the accident was unknown. I-17 was down to one lane of traffic for a short time.

Copper Canyon Fire & Medical at Work
This morning (3/21) at 6:45 AM, Copper Canyon Fire and Medical Authority (CCFMA) was dispatched to 492 South 5th Street in Camp Verde for the report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, crews encountered a room and content fire in a rear bedroom of the home. The home was occupied at the time, but the occupants were able to escape. Unfortunately
 one of the tenants experienced minor hand burns that were treated at the scene by EMS personnel. CCFMA was assisted in the suppression efforts by an engine company from Verde Valley Fire District. A support truck from Cottonwood Fire Department and a Rehab unit from Verde Valley Ambulance also provided support to the incident. There were no injuries to any firefighters reported. The structure received significant damage, displacing the occupants, who were referred to the Red Cross for some initial support. The fire appeared to have originated in the bedroom, and
was attributed to the use of smoking materials in bed. CCFMA wants to remind everyone that inattention in the use of smoking materials results in scores of fatalities and casualties nationally, and smokers should exercise every precaution to prevent becoming one of these statistics.
