Your Monthly News and Updates
This edition of the CNA Education newsletter highlights our latest work and the expertise that our team of researchers brings to the table in workforce and skills development; science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM); and school district capacity. Our approach combines the scientific rigor of a research institution with a firsthand understanding of education and workforce issues and their real world implications. We solve problems with objective scientific methods, evidence-based analysis, on-scene field experience, and absolute data integrity. Using our unique approach, we serve a diverse range of stakeholders—from state and federal policymakers; to higher education institutions, foundations, and associations; to districts and schools. Our team’s extensive experience with applied research, experimental trials, program evaluation, and technical assistance allows us to provide our clients with clear, credible analysis and actionable solutions.
STEM Work
As technical and scientific innovation continue to drive the global economy, the cultivation of high-quality STEM education and training has become a pressing matter for the nation’s educators and policymakers. STEM education continues to align closely with the nation’s economic prosperity and helps students develop the technical, academic, and employability skills necessary to enter the workforce. CNA Education provides rigorous research, evaluation, and technical assistance efforts to strengthen the research base on STEM education as an avenue for college and career readiness and successful entry into the workforce for rural and military-connected populations.
School District Services
We use rigorous research techniques to evaluate the effects and implications of programs and policies. Our services include logic model development, power analysis, formative and consummative evaluations, implementation fidelity, randomized control trials, and quasi-experimental designs. We have a special knack for designing data collection using both qualitative and quantitative methods, including survey and questionnaire design; focus groups, interviews, observations, and site visits; literature reviews; and environment scans. Other expertise includes providing strong analytic services, including analysis of administrative and secondary data, multivariate analysis, multilevel modeling, propensity score matching, and regression discontinuity. We also have a special talent at examining the alignment of academic and technical programs with labor market needs. Click here to see some of our recent work.
Workforce and Skills Development Services
As the demand for employees with more sophisticated technical, academic, and employability skills has risen, so has the importance of strong workforce and skills development programs such as career and technical education (CTE) and STEM education. CNA Education provides evaluation services on workforce and skills education programs and the technical assistance needed to provide high-quality education and training for students, job seekers, and employers.

An Inside Look At Apprenticeships: CNA Education continues to lead in CTE research. By integrating classroom instruction and hands-on learning, both CTE and apprenticeships can enhance the learning experience and better prepare students for future career success. We sat down with Maryland Delegate Cory McCray (D), who represents the east side of Baltimore, to find out how his apprenticeship helped him find his way into the Maryland General Assembly.
