Happy August!
We're having a great summer! How about you?

We would like to thank the candidates who met with us to discuss their campaigns and the issues they are focusing on. Thank you to Yousef Rabhi, democratic candidate for Michigan representative for the 53rd district, Jimmie Wilson Jr., candidate for Ypsilanti Township Trustee, Jason Morgan, candidate for Washtenaw County Commissioner for the 8th district, Jennifer Symanns and Beth Bashert candidates for the Ypsilanti City Council in Ward 2, and Anne Brown, candidate for Michigan state representative for the 54th district.

SAT/ACT Prep
Incoming 11th and 12th graders are prepping for SAT/ACTs every weekday in the morning until August 19th.
Youth who want to participate must attend on Monday of each week -- No drop-ins.

Community Service
Our Community Service program meets -- Weekdays at noon-4pm, we will be doing service projects to help change our communities for the better.
We will be volunteering at Food Gatherers on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday of the week of August 1st.

August 4, 11, 18 we will be in Flint helping at a literacy program at the Family Life Center.
We will be at BlightBusters in Detroit each day during the week of August 8th.

The youth in the Community Service program are working on raising money to get backpacks and supplies for high-schoolers.  By teens buying school supplies for students it helps them have a better mindset so they are focused on the class work and what they're learning in the classroom. Also having proper school supplies allows for positive education reform by enabling peers to be well prepared.
We will be selling handmade jewelry, peace cranes, and other crafts at the Ypsilanti Farmer's Market; August 2, 9, 16. Click here for more info

We are looking for people and businesses to partner with us. If you want to give school supplies; pencils, pens, notebooks, spiral notebooks, paper, note cards, colored pencils,  backpacks, which will hold up to 30 pounds of books, hygiene products; deodorant, feminine products, combs, brushes, picks, or gift cards for $15 to Meijers or Walmart, let us know.
