Greetings,

This Sunday marks the end of the season of Epiphany with Transfiguration Sunday. Epiphany began at the baptism of Jesus where God called from heaven, "You are my Son, the Beloved," and this Sunday we remember the story from Luke 9 where Jesus is transfigured and a voice from the cloud states, "This is my Son, my Chosen; listen to him." Twice Jesus is affirmed by his father as Beloved and as Chosen; as disciples of Jesus Christ we are also partakers in his baptism, ministry, and work in the world. We, too, are Beloved and Chosen.  As we stand on the threshold of another Lent, I encourage you to remember who you are in Christ - Beloved and Chosen by God. You are a sign of the grace of God in the world.

This Sunday, we rejoice and celebrate with those whose discipleship lead them to serve in the community and congregation through volunteerism. We rejoice and celebrate with those who become members of First Methodist Conroe. And, we rejoice and celebrate that we, like Jesus, are Beloved and Chosen by God.
