St. John's Episcopal Church, Youngstown
All are welcome!
Love God. Love your neighbor. Change the world.
This week @ St. John's
August 10 - August 17
In my sermon this week I talked about getting kids excited to come to church, and that loving them (and everyone else) and telling our stories of why Jesus and church matter to us are so important. That is the start. But there is more. We also have to listen to our young people. We have to ask them what is important to them, what they worry about, what they are looking forward to. We have to ask and then we have to listen. To listen to their joys and fears and life experiences, instead of just talking about our own,
Will you do that in the coming weeks? Will you pull one of our wonderful young people aside, tell them how great it is to see them, and ask them about their lives? Your investment of time and care will make a difference! Thank you!

1. A BBQ on August 30 for students, teachers and parents. It will be from 5:30-8. We need to bring grills, cook and serve food, help clean up. Can you help?
2. The first week of school they need 2-4 volunteers per day to welcome students and families each morning. Not sure of the exact time yet, but I know they are starting earlier this year, so say 8-9 am. (I also need someone who can pick up a sheetcake for me on Tuesday morning). The dates are Sept 5-8. I will be there every morning but Tuesday.
What do you think? Please let me know so I can assure the organizing committee we are set. Thank you!!! SEND ME AN EMAIL!! We are asked to do this because of our commitment to Williamson. Our name was on the list before they even asked me!! I thought that was a testament to your generous goodness! GAYLE+
Are you interested in taking positive steps to reduce racism in our community? You can do so by joining in the Community Dialogues on Racism, a series of 6 meetings of a dozen diverse (by race, age and gender) individuals exploring history, attitudes and ideas for the future to be held in the fall and completed by Thanksgiving. Please tell Priscilla if you are interested in participating or in helping to organize.
