Arma Dei Academy aims to glorify God by providing an excellent classical Christian education founded upon a biblical worldview which equips students to live purposefully and intelligently in service to God and others.

We desire to end our week well by gathering together to worship God.   Pastor Weidmann from Grace Chapel will be speaking on Hebrews 12:1-4.   First Grade will be reciting Psalm 23.

Join us at 8:15 A.M.

Tolle Lege Challenge
Take Up and Read
St. Augustine (354-430 AD) was one of the great figures of the early Church. The story of his conversion is told in his Confessions, in which he describes how God used a single verse from the epistle to the Romans to suddenly convert him.

While bitterly wrestling with his sin and questions about God, Augustine heard neighboring children chanting, "Tolle lege, tolle lege" or "Take up and read, take up and read." Augustine took these words as a command from God to take up his Bible and read. After reading Romans 13:13-14, Augustine gave his life to Christ.

Just as Augustine's life was changed by reading God's word, we too can be changed by the inspired word of God. Students at Arma Dei Academy are immersed in scripture and quality literature every day. In honor of Augustine and the power of the written word, students in Kindergarten through 5th grade will participate in Arma Dei Academy's Tolle Lege Reading Challenge each weekend in February.

Staying Healthy
On Monday, Arma Dei Academy's school nurse, Tatum Lehman, instructed students on the importance of hand washing. Nurse Lehman likened unseen germs to glitter and their ability to spread everywhere. She creatively demonstrated the powerful effects of soap in killing them. Students were taught proper hand washing technique, appropriate time to spend (sing the whole ABC's song), keeping hands away from noses and mouths, and awareness of hard surface transference of germs. Ask your kindergarten through fourth grade students to demonstrate!

This better equips students in countering winter illness outbreaks. Recent reports of mumps and pertussis (also known as whooping cough) have been reported by the Colorado Department of Health and Environment who are closely following reported cases. Frequent, thorough hand washing prevents the spread of germs.

The first gathering of the Arma Dei Academy Faculty/Parent Book Club will take place on Thursday, February 2 from 7:00 P.M.-8:30 P.M. in the Latin Classroom. We plan to meet on the first Thursday of each month and will be reading a variety of classical literature.

Our first selection is Leaf by Niggle, a short story by J.R.R. Tolkien. If you are interested in attending, please email Aaron Denlinger or Karen Hein.  Copies of the story are available at the front desk.

We look forward to discussing with and learning from you.
