-It is with deep sadness we share the news that Lois Gallo died on March 22. She was in hospice care at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by loving family. May we offer our prayers of sympathy and support to Lois’ family. A memorial service will be held at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church, 201 Washington Avenue in Chelsea on April 7 at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Chelsea Jewish LifeCare  or Cure CMT4J–Advancing Gene Therapy for Rare Diseases .

-It was delightful to see Arlene Trask back in church this week as she has been at home recovering from a stroke, Ed McFadden was back after knee surgery and Jack Faulkner , who returned after a lengthy recovery from a broken hand.
Maundy Thursday Service
Thursday, March 29 at 7:00 p.m.
Join us for our traditional candlelit Tenebrae Service, where we will remember the last week of Jesus’ earthly life, including the Last Supper, the betrayal, and his crucifixion. Communion will be shared. All are encouraged to attend this service as we move toward Easter Sunday. Childcare provided.
Mozart Requiem Good Friday Concert
Friday, March 30 at 8:00 p.m.
Come to First Parish to listen to this otherworldly concert. The Requiem was originally composed to remember those who died, and was written by Mozart as he himself lay dying. Experiencing this music is an apt way to recognize and honor Good Friday.
Senior High's 30 Hour Famine: Senior High Fellowship will participate in the 30 Hour Famine (and spend the night at the church) March 30–March 31. The fast begins at midnight on Good Friday and goes until early Saturday morning, the day before Easter. The aim is to learn about and raise awareness for world hunger, but also to raise funds to help end world hunger. Their goal is to raise $3000. If you wish to support this worthy cause, you can donate to the Senior High page here , or contact Julie Flowers .
Saturday, April 7 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Mark your calendars, and come share your voice! What would God have our church do and become over the next 2 to 3 years? We will gather at St. John's Episcopal Church in Beverly Farms, 705 Hale Street, beginning with a continental breakfast to get us energized for a great day of planning!
Tuesday, April 3 from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
Join us at Chianti on Cabot Street for food, refreshment, and conversation about life, faith, and the places they intersect. The group is open to the community and new members are always welcome!
Friday, April 13 from 6 :00-8:30 p.m.
Drop the kids with us! Julie Flowers and an amazing team of volunteers lead a fun and interactive evening of songs, art projects, and faith stories, all from a progressive Christian perspective—plus we provide dinner! Everybody has a blast. You deserve time to yourself!
It is time once again to host our Family Promise guests! Please sign up for April 22-29 hosting and food prep opportunities. This will ease our organizational process and hopefully help you all plan ahead as well. If you have any trouble with the online signup, email Roberta Grant.

Book Group April Meeting
Friday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m.
The Book Group has selected the novel A Piece of the World by Christina Baker Kline for discussion at their upcoming meeting. The author, who also wrote bestselling The Orphan Train , uses her imagination and detailed research to re-create the world of Christina Olson, the model and inspiration for Andrew Wyeth’s most popular painting, “Christina’s World.” Although Christina’s world appears small, in that she she has physical handicaps and lives on a small farm in a tiny seacoast town in Maine, she became the subject of one of the best-known American paintings of the twentieth century. The author tells a powerful story of her life. The Olson farmhouse portrayed in the painting has recently been purchased by the Farnsworth Museum and will be open to the public this summer. Book Group is open to new members!
