Beverly Homecoming Days Interfaith Worship Service
Sunday, July 29 at 10:00 a.m.
As part of the Beverly Homecoming Days, local faith centers are uniting for an Interfaith Worship Service to commemorate our diverse traditions. The service will take place at Lynch Park (inclement weather would change the location to FBC) and will include music and words of wisdom from various area faith leaders.

Our theme for this service is, "Celebrating Our Beautiful Diversity." We will honor the richness of our diverse faith traditions and celebrate that which unites us! This is a family-friendly gathering that is sure to inspire. Bring your lawn chair, beach blanket, family, and friends to celebrate our town’s beautiful diversity! An offering will be collected to benefit Riverhouse/Lifebridge Homeless services.

Sponsoring Beverly Multifaith Coalition congregations include: Temple B’nai Abraham, First Baptist, First Parish, Zen Center North Shore, Intervarsity, Church in the Cove, Gateway Presbyterian, Saint Peters, Second Congregational Church, the Endicott College chaplain, and North Shore Friends Meeting.
Lectio divina is Latin for “divine reading” and refers to the traditional Benedictine practice of scriptural reading, meditation and prayer intended to promote communion with God and to increase the knowledge of God’s Word. It does not treat Scripture as texts to be studied, but as the Living Word. Our Wednesday morning gatherings meet at Independence park beginning July 11, and are an opportunity for spiritual seekers and believers alike to come and spend time in community and in contemplation and reflection of God’s word before entering into their day. These gatherings are open to all; new members are always welcome. The time opens with moments of quiet meditation and closes with the sharing of Communion. In inclement weather, we meet at First Baptist Church in Beverly. Contact Kent Harrop with any questions or for more information.

First Baptist Church in Beverly: Double your Gift
We are writing to each and every one of you, because in one way or another -- through your prayers, your visits, your financial support, your moral support, and/or accompaniment -- have been part of our AMOS family! And in the past 17 years of being medical missionaries, what we have learned the most is to trust in God and follow the call to serve the “least of these” -- come what may. With your help, AMOS is now providing healthcare to over 69,000 people in remote areas of Nicaragua where there are often no doctors or nurses available. In the current political crisis, there are even more people in need of medical care, which we are committed to providing as we can.

We want you to know that the situation of political unrest in Nicaragua continues to make daily life difficult, tragic, and uncertain, and that we definitely need your help. Thanks to a group of generous donors who have come forward, any donation you make now will be DOUBLED (up to a total of $200,000) to help AMOS provide health and hope during this crisis.

You can also have your donation matched till the end of July . Checks can be made payable to "AMOS Health & Hope" and mailed to: AMOS Health & Hope, Inc. P.O. Box 6155 Hermitage, PA 16148-0922

Thank you FBC Beverly for being a partner congregation with AMOS and the village of Apantillo. Through your generous efforts lives are being saved and blessed.

~ Dr. Laura Parajon and Dr. David Parajon, American Baptist Medical Missionaries to AMOS.
A Poem Composed While On Retreat
In early June, ten participants from FBC spent a weekend slowing down at the Spiritual Life Retreat at Hallelujah Farm, listening for the ways the Creator speaks into our lives. Hallelujah Farm is a restored 17th century farm and retreat center in New Hampshire, surrounded by fields and forest. While there, Lynda DeNardo was inspired to write a poem, which we'd like to share with you below:
Silence in Motion
Lynda DeNardo

Fog dissipating off still water in the morning cool air.
Ferns unfurling.
White puffs magically drifting
And catching glimmers of light through dappled leaves,
Dispersing themselves amidst the grass.
Birds calling and effortlessly fluttering wings.
Motion—all in motion
Even the stance of the blue spruce grove -
With their branches all fanned and layered.
Things are going on beneath
In the deep
Where roots grow
And thirst is quenched.
