A WORD FROM THE RECTOR
A Prayer for 9/11 by Kendall Harmon
Almighty God and Father, who wills that people
may flourish and have abundance of life:
Be with us especially on this day when we remember
such destruction, darkness, devastation, death and terror.
Help us to honor the memory of those whose lives were utterly cut short, and to believe that you can make all things new,
even the most horrible things.
Redeem and heal, O Holy Spirit, grant us perspective, humility, light, trust and grace, through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Last Sunday, September 9th, I met with some who were interested in learning more about membership at the Church of St. Clement. If you were not able to make one of the meetings, please contact me, or Travis King about getting together.

On Sunday, September 16th, we will be having a Ministry Fair after both services. This is an opportunity to learn more about the various ministries and missions that are associated with our Church community.

Life Groups are part of the Youngish Adults Ministry, and begin soon:
  • Sept. 12, Wednesday Central - 917 Mundy - Initial gathering will be discussion over format of their group. (childcare drop off at the church)
  • Sept. 13, Thursday UpperValley - 5335 Montoya Dr. - “Flooded by Grace - How do we reconcile God flooding the earth in the account of Noah, being the same God who reconciled the world through Jesus?” You might be surprised through discussion how the stories are similar, as well as the redemptive Story behind them.
  • Sept. 19, Wednesday, Westside - 6334 Via Aventura Dr   “Flooded by Grace - How do we reconcile God flooding the earth (in the account of Noah) being the same God who reconciled the world through Jesus?” You might be surprised through discussion how the stories are similar, as well as the redemptive story behind them.

They are all open to new people, but call the leader before showing up, to make sure that all the details are accurate, and that you are notified if there is a change of venue or time.

This Friday evening,  September 14 , Holly and I will be hosting Holy Chow, a potluck supper, at 6:30 p.m. at our home (717 Willow Glen Drive on the West Side). Please bring an entree, salad, or dessert for 8 people.

On Saturday, September 22 , at 9 a.m., there will be an ordination service for two of our members, along with three others from our diocese. Deacons Eduardo Gonzalez and Ken Hanna will both be ordained to the priesthood. Noel Collins and her husband Greg, who are serving In Albuquerque, will both be ordained to the diaconate. Deacon June Smith, from San Angelo, will be ordained to the priesthood. There will be a reception following.

On Sunday, September 23 , Bishop Flavio will be with us. He is the Missionary Bishop for the Anglican Province of Brazil and is a dynamic speaker.

Deacon Eduardo Gonzalez has asked for prayer for Cd. Juarez. There appears to be a new war between drug cartels, with many murders. Please pray for the safety of students and faculty of Seminario Todas las Naciones.

Yours in our Lord Jesus,

The Rev. Bill Cobb+
