Lewis Black and Nancy GilesCommentator/writer/comedian/actors Lewis Black and Nancy Giles discuss their early days as broke young performers in Hell's Kitchen, subsequently making it in show business, as well as their choices for the funniest conservatives in the USA. They also review Clybourne Park and reflect on Joseph Alsop, the inspiration for the hit political play, The Columnist.

Theater Talk is a series devoted to the world of the stage. It began on New York television in Susan Haskins and Michael Riedel1993 and is co-hosted by Michael Riedel (Broadway columnist for the New York Post) and series producer Susan Haskins. The series is produced by Theater Talk Productions, a not-for-profit corporation and is funded by contributions from private foundations and individuals, as well as The New York State Council on the Arts.

Theater Talk airs every Saturday at 8:30 pm, Sunday at 12:30 pm and Monday at 7:30 am, 1:30 pm and 7:30 pm.

The Gospel According to Saint Matthew       

 

The Gospel According to Saint MatthewThe best in world cinema is showcased in this regular series. Each film is followed by lively discussion with scholars, film professionals or critics, hosted by Professor Jerry Carlson.

This month, we present "The Neo-Realist Strain in Italian Cinema" This week's film is The Gospel According to Saint Matthew, directed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, and starring Enrique Irazoqui, Margherita Caruso, Susanna Pasolini, and Marcello Morante. The story of Jesus as told in the gospels according to Matthew, covering his years of traveling the countryside to preach, heal and attract disciples. The discussion guest is Millicent Marcus, of Yale University.

 

The Gospel According to Saint Matthew airs on Saturday, June 23 at 9:00 pm and on Sunday, June 24 at 9:00 pm.

ATW's Working in the Theatre

ATWThe American Theatre Wing's panel discussion series, Working in the Theatre, brings together performers, directors, playwrights, designers, choreographers and behind-the-scenes personnel from the Broadway theatre. CUNY TV currently airs five recent seminars every week, and the series can also be seen on Cablevision's Metro Guide and cable systems in California.

Ivan the Terrible Join us this week for Bolshoi at the Bolshoi -- Sergei Prokofiev: Ivan the Terrible, starring Irek Mukhamedov, Natalya Bessmertnova, and Gediminas Taranda. One of Prokofiev's best works was his score for Eisenstein's film, Ivan the Terrible -- the historical story of 16th century Russia, at a time when the country went through a troubled period under the bloody regency of Ivan.

Bolshoi at the Bolshoi -- Sergei Prokofiev: Ivan the Terrible airs on Sunday, June 24 at 1:00 pm.
