Design Fair 2012 benefiting Lawndale Art Center features vintage modern objects of the 20th century as well examples of cutting-edge contemporary design. A wide selection of carefully curated items will be available for purchase as part of the Design Fair, including furniture, glass, ceramics, lighting, books, metalwork and fashion. The seventh edition of Latin Wave: New Film from Latin America takes place April 26 to 29, 2012. Eight new films from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, and Peru premiere at the MFAH. This year, three directors and one actress accompany their films to Houston. Once again, Sunday screenings are free to students with valid ID. More info here

Thursday evening Main Street Theater hosts a champagne reception for the official opening of Richard III, Shakespeare's villain everyone loves to hate. This production is a collaboration with Prague Shakespeare Festival. Post Show discussions will be held May 6 and May 13. More info here

Art League Houston is pleased to present a night of creative and compelling improvisational theatre with Houston Playback Theatre. Using the dramatic oil paintings of Mexican-American artist Rigoberto A. Gonzalez, currently on view at Art League, the audience will participate in the creation of a unique evening of theatre by responding to the imagery in his works. These responses will be transformed into spontaneous performances brought about through the open collaboration between audience, actor, and art. More info here
