Professional artists must be able to write clearly and persuasively about their work. Yet too many see writing as a frustrating, anxiety provoking, or simply baffling. Tacey A. Rosolowski, Ph.D. will demystify writing by breaking it down into distinct skills and inspire workshop participants by showing how their writing can grow along with their art practice. Nameless Sound presents the return of two favorite guests, saxophonist John Butcher and analogue synthesist Thomas Lehn, and welcomes percussionist Gino Robair for his Nameless Sound debut. Two nights, two different concerts. Wednesday night's show takes place at Studio 101 in Sprint Street Studios and Thursday night's show takes place at 14 Pews. More info here

Busan Metropolitan Traditional Music Orchestra performs both traditional Korean music and contemporary work by some of the country's leading composers. Traditional pieces include Haegeum sanjo, a work for stringed instrument and single drum noted for its masterful variety of rhythms and melodies, and Samulnori, which combines the sound of two gongs and two drums. Manuel Puig, weaves a sharply provocative tale of love, victimization, fantasy, and friendship that develops between two strikingly different men who share an Argentinean prison cell. In collaboration with Unhinged Productions, TBH Center presents this play, adapted by Puig from his own novel, El beso de la mujer araņa written in 1976. More info here

Interstitial Spaces: Julie Barello & Beverly Penn
Various plants and foliage created from X-rays, MRI film, and cast bronze twist and wind their way up the walls of the large gallery in this exhibition, featuring two artists who share a background in metalsmithing and an interest in creating large-scale wall installations from small, sometimes delicate, pieces referencing flora and fauna. Texas Master Series: Piero Fenci - Battlement
HCCC is pleased to present the fourth show in its Texas Masters Series, Piero Fenci-Battlement. Piero Fenci is the fourth artist to receive this honor, awarded to established career artists working in Texas who have made a significant impact in the craft field. Fenci's work has roots in the underlying craft tradition of functionality, while exploring the sculptural and conceptual realm of contemporary ceramics. More info here

Screening of SWAMP Sponsored Project LIVE OAK TREES, a short musical film of the song from Leah White & The Magic Mirrors Album, "Houston: Our Roots Are Strong" celebrating Houstonīs 175th Birthday. This local award-winning band drives around Houston performing on the back of a flat-bed truck. On the way, they encounter Houston celebrities, families and special landmarks. British photographer Simon Gentry shares his open photo/art studio, The Photobooth on Montrose to screen the film highlights of some of world's best contemporary dance that took place in Dance Salad Festival 2011 performances at Cullen Theater, Wortham Center. This film screening gives you a unique opportunity to explore Houston's major international dance festival or relive your favorite choreographic masterpieces presented by such outstanding companies. With the thermometer creeping up daily, First Saturday Arts Market switches to evening hours this summer. First Saturday Arts Market is a monthly outdoor fine arts event featuring the works of dozens of visual artists. The market showcases paintings, sculpture, photography, jewelry and handcrafted items. Archway Gallery presents Musicality featuring artist Christie Coker. The exhibit features a collection of recent drawings and paintings which focus on the world of music and the various sensations it evokes. Sights and sounds from blues bars to outdoor festivals inspire Coker's visual imagery. The exhibition will be on view through July 5. More info here

Join Aurora Picture Show at Discovery Green for the I Can Do Anything! screening of film shorts by, about, and for kids celebrates children who truly can do anything because they still know how to dream! Youīll get to see a vintage 1972 "Fat Albert" clip - the first cartoon with an all black cast - as well as the dreamy skydiving film, Chute, by French filmmaker Mathias Lachal.
