Being Extraordinary
Last week when most teenagers were enjoying their time off from school on Spring Break, Ann Bradley Maloney was miles away working in a village in Guatemala. Ann Bradley is a senior in high school and has spent three out of four of her last Spring Breaks traveling to this tiny little country in Central America sharing the Gospel and working with local missionaries. "When I was in the 9th grade I really wanted to travel to another country and my church had a mission trip opportunity so my parents let me go. I had no idea I would fall in love with the people there and more importantly fall in love with sharing the love of Christ in a foreign country. I started making friends in Guatemala that year and I go every year to see them just like I would any of my friends here. I've made relationships there and I have real friendships," says Ann Bradley. In between being a senior about to graduate from High School, traveling on student trips with First Jackson and following her dad to St. Louis to watch him coach third base for the St. Louis Cardinals, Ann Bradley has found a way to add even another trip in the next few months to go back. "I think what I appreciate the most is how much better I understand the love of Christ after working in that country. We're so materially blessed here, but many times spiritually lost and they have nothing and are so open to hearing the Gospel. They have nothing but hope to rely on and I love talking to them about that. I've grown so much in my faith and I'm so thankful that I've had the opportunity to go." Ann Bradley is an extraordinary person and loves to tell people one thing: "if you ever have a chance to be a part of a mission trip, it will change your life."

The other day I stumbled on a jewel of a place in downtown Jackson, just a block or so away from my office. Not only does Urban Sip have great coffee, but it's super-trendy, clean, quiet, and simply a great place to stop and rest for a minute.   Urban Sip is a part of We Will Go Ministries in downtown Jackson and is a partner organization with First Jackson. Learn more about this important ministry and stop by and support our local missionaries in Jackson by enjoying a cup of some of the best coffee in town.    Allison Talley, First Jackson

Young People Connecting with a Christ-Centered Community
Most people will say that their early twenties was one of the most imp ressionable times in their life. That's another great reason to be involved in a small group, and we have several at First Jackson that provide a great environment, atmosphere, fellowship, an d in-depth Bible study. One of these groups is led by Graham Calvert, Bill Ashford, and Cody B ailey. The class is filled with young people, married and single, many who are right out of college or post college programs. This class enjoys studying topics that are relevant and essential for young growing Christians from a Biblical perspective. Join us on the 4th level at 10:30 on Sunday mornings!

Three Ways to Connect to Christ-centered Community
from the sermon Join the Team! Connect to Christ-centered Community, Sunday, March 19

Visit a Sunday School Class
Are you connected in a Sunday School class or small group? Regardless of your age or stage of life, from preschool, to young 20s, to families and anything in between, we have classes that would love to welcome you to their group. Over the next two weeks find a Sunday School class and experience the fellowship of a small group of Believers.  Try Sunday School.  You can find more information about our groups at the Welcome Center in the second-floor atrium or online at FirstBaptistJackson.org.

Fellowship with a Meal
If you are involved in Sunday School, eat this week with a seasoned Christian, a young Christian, or a non-Christian. You have many neighbors and coworkers and teammates and probably some family members who don't know Jesus Christ. Eat lunch with them this week and tell them about how God is changing your life.

Open Your Home
Open your home once a month. Our culture has changed and the church is no longer the front door of a community. If you open your home what you're doing is really opening your heart and in opening your heart you'll let them know that you need a Savior and his name is Jesus. You know Jesus can change their life because you've seen him change your life, and over great food you can bring them to an even greater Savior.

One of the ways that we can live a life that was created by God to live for God is by connecting to Christ-centered community.

Dr. Matt Brooks continues his series, Join the Team, on Sunday, March 26.

A Grammy Winner and A Pirate Ship Come to First Jackson!

Building a 55 foot long and 30 foot high pirate's ship in the First Jackson worship center was no easy task. "We're blessed to have some of the most talented and artistic visionaries working with us on this. If we can imagine it, they can design and build it," says Dr. Lavon Gray, Lead Worship Pastor at First Jackson. The ship is not the only extraordinary event of the night, though. "The musical itself is one of the highest quality I've seen because it was written and arranged by Celeste and David Clydesdale who are both renowned writers and composer," continues Dr. Gray. "If your kids enjoy Disney and Six Flags, they will enjoy this musical." David Clydesdale is well known for his work with Disney and he and Celeste are both Dove Award-winning artists (David also has a Grammy award and a platinum record to his name), creating work for some of the most recognizable artists in the world, such as Sandi Patty, Kenny Rogers, and Glenn Close to name a few. "Treasure Island" will be performed by children at First Jackson and will be live streamed at 6:00 on Sunday, March 26, 2017. You don't want to miss it!

Invest in a Few

Next Sunday, April 2, Dr. Matt Brooks will have a special presentation about First Groups, our new, small discipleship groups that will help us fulfill our vision to invest in a few. Make plans to be here for our 6:00 service that day to learn about how you can be a part of a First Group, which is one way we Multiply Disciples To Live Like Jesus at First Jackson.
