"I can 'go' because of the GoFund"
Since the eighth grade when I went on my first mission trip, I have known that missions is one of my biggest passions. I have also known from a very young age that traveling to England was something I have always wanted to do. It was on the very top of my bucket list! When I heard of the opportunity to go on a mission trip to visit the cities of Leicester and London in England, I was immediately enthralled! Missions and England combined sounded like the best of both worlds but I knew if God didn't work in a supernatural way I would not be able to go. I was a college girl without a job and little money to spend on a trip like this. I prayed a lot, asking God to show Himself to me and that if I was really supposed to go, that He would provide a way because I knew He was the only One who could make it happen. After a lot of prayer and prodding from First Jackson's college pastor, Steve, I decided to sign up and continue in expectation that God was going to move. Over the next several months, God revealed His faithfulness to me in a way that I have never experienced before. In every detail, His presence remained close. Like Paul explains in Ephesians 3:20, God went above and beyond, providing financially for me more than I could ask or imagine. Within a few short weeks, I was offered two part-time jobs! I was in awe of this gift I was given, the gift that allowed me to work and pay my way for this trip. Also, through the selfless giving of First Jackson and the GoFund, God made it financially evident that I was supposed to go on the trip to England. Without this church and the financial sacrifice of its people for the furthering of the Kingdom of God, I would never have experienced the faithfulness of our Creator in a fresh way. England for me was a dream come true and I'm forever thankful.

According to an address given by our current President of the IMB, David Platt, 65% of Americans over the age of 65 are Christians. It's an amazing statistic; almost two thirds of a generation are born again Christians or claim to be, however tragically only 4% of all Americans sixteen and under are Christians, which means for those of you over 65 a majority of your friends and contemporaries are evangelical or adhering to Christian truth, but only 4% of your grandchildren's friends and classmates and teammates are claiming to give their allegiance to the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ himself. So what do we do? We do many things. We allow our church to be who God has called it to be with everything we've got and invest in a few so we can reach the many.

Wrath and Mercy Met at the Cross
Forgiven:  A Celebration of the Cross, April 9, 6:00 p.m.

Christians around the world celebrate Good Friday because we believe that it is the most important weekend in the history of the world.  The Resurrection of Jesus two days
later is the decisive turning point for all creation.  Jesus died for our sins, was buried and was raised to life on the third day, all in accordance with what God had promised all along in the scriptures.  We celebrate the day that Jesus willingly suffered and died as the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

Good Friday is the day when wrath and mercy met at the cross.

Forgiven: A Celebration of the Cross is a First Jackson special worship event that will take place on Palm Sunday, April 9 at 6:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of First Jackson. This service will feature scripture and powerful music culminating with the celebration of the Lord's Supper in remembrance of Christ and Good Friday. The First Jackson Worship Choir and Orchestra will lead in this multi-generational worship experience not only reflecting on the cross but also celebrating the resurrection.
