Happy & Appropriate Halloween!

Tuesday, October 31st
Students are welcome to wear a fun and appropriate costume on Halloween day.  However, if any costume is deemed inappropriate, offensive and/or depicts themes that are not allowed on campus, students will be sent to the office.  Please note that fake weapons are still not allowed; i.e. .no guns, knives, etc.  We will continue with learning so any costume that a teacher feels disrupts instruction or learning will need to be changed.
 
Remember, candy may not be eaten or distributed in class.  Have fun, but think first! 
Aeries Portal Training for Parents

Wednesday, November 1
Parents, please join us for a special training session on "How to Open an Aeries Account"on November 1 at 6pm in the SRHS library. All you'll need is an email account and the letter that was mailed to you with your student's information (student ID, phone number, code). If you don't have this information, we'll help you anyway!
Athletics Boosters Meeting

Parents, please join us to learn what's up in the world of athletics at SR. Hear from coaches and the Athletic Director and find out how you can help with future Booster events. We're looking for new board members! Most of the current board has graduating seniors this year, so we would love to hear from you if you care about the future of our sports program and want to get involved. Community and Opportunity: Research & Storytelling Project

An Exhibition of 9th Grade Creative Works About the American Dream, Friendship, and Adversity will be presented on Thursday, November 2nd starting at 6:15pm sharp! All presentations will take place in the classrooms on the 3rd floor of the LA building at SRHS. Please arrive early! Parking will be available in the lot off of Mission Ave by the tennis courts. Bulldog Theater Talent Show
Friday, November 3 at 7pm in the theater
Join the Drama Club for an informal talent show evening with a variety of music and acting in the Bulldog Theater.  No charge.

Treat Yo'Self Thursdays
The CCC has resumed the popular "Treat Yo'Self Thursdays", after school until 4:30 in the CCC. Students can come in to do homework or just hang out and relax with classmates. Snacks will be available.
 
College Application Workshops
During the week of Nov. 6, Huckleberry Youth Program will be leading college application workshops for our students. Students can work on their CSU, UC, Common App or other applications with the support of knowledgeable staff. Details will be provided next week.

Nancy Segale, our AP secretary, was honored as the Grand Marshall for the parade. Munir Kabbara and Chloe Ortiz were crowned King & Queen. Josh Spence and Shae Daly served as MCs for the festivities. And, the Class of 2021 won the homecoming float contest.  Thanks to everyone who contributed in making our homecoming events a great success!
 
Parent Voice Forum
Wednesday, November 8 at 6pm in the Library
Please join Principal Dennis in the Library for a Parent Voice Forum on November 8th from 6-7:30pm.  San Rafael High School is being visited this year by the accreditation team. In preparation, Mr. Dennis would like to have a conversation with SR families about the school's academic program.  We will look at the results of parent surveys and provide an opportunity for families to share what they believe are areas of strength and areas for improvement.

Amigos de las Americas Info Sessions
November 14, December 5 and January 9 at 6:30 pm
Learn about the incredible opportunities for students to gain essential educational and life experiences and leadership training, while living and working in communities across Central and South America! Volunteers work with US and Latin American peers to design and lead community projects related to areas such as public health, children's rights, and environmental sustainability. Final application for summer 2018 is due 1/15/18.

Care Packages for Puerto Rico
PAL is organizing a campaign to send care packages to Puerto Rico . Please bring non-perishable good such as powder drink mix, Top Ramon (cup noodles), beef jerky, tuna, pretzels, nuts, nutrition bars, hard candy (no chocolate) and hygiene products. Any thing will help . We will have boxes located in Ms.Gonzalez room T121 and In the principal's office.  You can also sponsor the postage of a care package for $19.00  by placing cash or a check made to SRHS-PAL in Ms. Gonzalez mail box or leave with Maria Rodriguez in the office.

Student Volunteer Opportunity at Walker Creek
Is your student interested in being a Walker Creek Ranch leader?  Students must be a 10 th -12 th grader and in good academic standing.  Have your student see Ms. Mazariegos in the CCC (AD241) to pick up an application!  Applications are due back in the CCC as soon as possible!  The Walker Creek camp dates are as follows:
