Talking Transitions Tomorrow, November 22 with LIC Partnership, The Noguchi Museum, and the Queens Economic Development Corporation

Talking Transitions
 is an open discussion about the future of New York City among New Yorkers, community leaders and elected officials, aimed at the incoming administration. Join the conversation, tomorrow in a special session, hosted by The Noguchi Museum, the Queens Economic Development Corporation, and LIC Partnership. The discussion will be a two-part panel focused on the creative sector of Queens. This follows several small business panels that featured three LIC businesses this past Monday. Representing LIC were Leslie Nillson of Sage General Store, Raquel Salas of Big City Graph-x, and Ernie Smith of Penn & Fletcher.

The Thrive in Queens Talking Transition will be held tomorrow, November 22 at Duarte Square, Canal and 6th Avenue in the main tent from 2:30 to 3:30 PM. This is open to the public and we hope you will join us. 

Panel One will be Creative Hives I moderated by Jenny Dixon Director of The Noguchi Museum, focusing on the Queens Art and Culture sector. 
The panelists are as follows:
Jason Yoon, Director of Education, Queens Museum
Sheila Lewandowski, Co-Founder and Executive Director, The Chocolate Factory Theater
Jennifer Walden Weprin, Director of Marketing, Louis Armstrong House Museum
Sami Abu Shumays, Deputy Director, Flushing Town Hall

Panel Two will be Creative Hives II moderated by Seth Bornstein of the Queens Economic Development Corporation, focusing on creative industries including film, design and food.

Last week, we wrapped up another successful Trade Show and Luncheon. We had 139 exhibitors, several thousand Trade Show attendees, and more than 350 Luncheon attendees. Stay tuned to view photos from the Trade Show and Luncheon.
Long Island City Business Contributes to Artisan Lecture Series
 
Ernie Smith President of Penn & Fletcher, a custom embroidery and Long Island City artisan manufacturer, was featured at the General Society of Mechanics & Tradesmen of the City of New York. Smith presented as part of the artisan lecture series to honor skilled craftsmen and ensure the knowledge is passed on to future generations. Other trades featured during the lecture series include calligraphy, traditional ornamental metalwork, and custom jewelry design.
