JYMS Students Receive Sportsmanship Award
We are #BarabooProud of Jack Young Middle School students Kylie Sprecher and Kane Mahoney, recipients of the  Kathy Allen Sportsmanship Award. The students received the award during the end-of-the-year awards assembly at JYMS.

Here's why they were nominated and selected for the award:

Coach: Alisha Dequaine and Andrea Kozlowski
Sport: Volleyball
Nominee:   Kylie Sprecher
Kylie was an integral part of this year's volleyball success and exhibited all of the cornerstones of the Kathy Allen award.  She was very supportive of her teammates during both wins and losses and had a demeanor of integrity throughout the entire season.  She had exemplary character both on and off the court and was an active leader on her team. She had sportsmanlike conduct at home and away as well as during practices.  We proudly nominate Kyle Sprecher for the Kathy Allen award.

Coach: Tom Steinhorst
Sport: Boys Basketball
Nominee: Kane Mahoney
I would like to nominate Kane Mahoney for the award. You know Kane and what an outstanding young man he is, but I found him to be just awesome to work with. He listened when I was talking and always gave maximum effort. He was polite and always greets you with a warm greeting. He was relatively new to basketball but worked his way into the starting lineup and was a huge contributor. More importantly though was his attitude which was always upbeat and he was always willing to learn. I think Kathy would have loved working with Kane and think he would be an excellent choice for the award.

We make a lot of memories throughout the school year. Here are just a few of the memories our students and staff will cherish from Al Behrman Elementary School!

Rummage Sale for Euro Trip
Baraboo High School will hold a Rummage Sale Fundraiser for the BHS Europe Trip on Saturday, June 9th from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Baraboo High School parking lot  (9th Street and Draper Street).

Many families and community members are donating to the rummage sale so expect to find a plethora of items including children's and adults' clothing, decorations, toys, luggage, appliances, and much, much more!

Help support BHS students travel to Europe to learn about Swiss folk culture, the Renaissance, and Ancient Rome!

The Europe Trip will include visits to the places students learn about in school. Students will be immersed in new cultures- surrounded by the people, the language, the food, the way of life - that will create inspirational moments that can't be taught in the classroom. They can only be experienced. Our student group will have expert local guides that will lead them on sightseeing tours, provide detailed views of history, art, architecture and more.

Donations welcome - thank you for your support!

Bartman's Class Participates in Senior Exit Interview
A group of Baraboo High School students had the opportunity to participate in a pilot program called the Senior Exit Interview Portfolio (SEIP) process in Dr. Bartman's class. In support of the District Strategic Plan goals of ensuring the development of academic and career plans and engaging community partners in the success of students' growth, the SEIP process gives graduating seniors the chance to share their individual progress as a student and goals for the future through a formal interview with school officials and local business leaders.

The students work on compiling a portfolio showcasing products they accomplished in their years at Baraboo High School to use for discussion during the interview. School officials and business leaders team up to review the student's portfolio and prepare questions for the interview. During the interview, the student experiences an opportunity to practice for a formal interview and the school officials and business leaders hear ways that we've best supported students growth and determine paths to take for continuous improvement.

Starting with the Class of 2019, all graduating seniors will participate in the SEIP process.
SADD Billboard to Go Up in Baraboo
In March, the Baraboo High School SADD (students against destructive decisions) students did presentations for 4th and 5th grade classes on anti-tobacco awareness and asked them to join other students in their classrooms to create anti-tobacco posters for the contest.

Awards for posters were given to Stella Cognac - 1st prize (an ipad mini), Brooke Seiler - 2nd prize (4 waterpark passes to Noah's Ark) and Brady Jacome - 3rd prize (A $50 AMC Theatre Gift Card). All students who submitted posters were given scoopie coupons from Culvers. The winning poster will appear on a billboard in Baraboo this summer.

Here's a preview of the poster!
