Regarding God's Creation
Gen 7:19  The water prevailed more and more upon the earth, so that all the high mountains  everywhere under the heavens  were covered. ... 8:4  In the seventh month, on the seventeenth day of the month, the ark rested upon the mountains of Ararat. 5 The water decreased steadily until the tenth month; in the tenth month, on the first day of the month, the tops of the mountains became visible.   - NASU       (Bold emphasis added.)

                       Why I am a Creationist ?

In our youth, many of us adopt evolution as basic truth from the schools and society around us. That is the natural box within which we begin our thought life. At some point we encounter something that makes us consider new ideas and try to decide between apparently conflicting
Dr. Steve Austin
propositions. For this writer that event was becoming a Christian early in college. I soon faced questions about the conflict between what secular schools and society consider to be obvious - great age of the natural world around us - in contrast to the most natural reading of Genesis.  This conflict began to teach me to think for myself and look for data and relationships outside the conventional box to which others constrain themselves.

Some creationists strive to find a way to compromise, harmonize, or allegorize Genesis with the long age or "deep time" evolutionary concept of how the world around us came about. This can lead to two paths. One is a more or less deistic approach that presumes that God
Dr. Kurt Wise
built the detailed initial conditions into the big bang origin so that all He wanted to develop followed by the physical laws playing themselves out naturally with little if any intervention by the Creator.  The other presumes that God used long slow processes of big bang and evolution but included small interventions along the way to guide these processes where He wanted. In neither case is there room for large or obvious supernatural intervention by God - certainly not anything like a world scale flood or sudden advent of many languages.

We YEC creationists presume that the narrative portions of Genesis including creation, fall, expulsion, Flood, and forced
Dr. Andrew Snelling
dispersion via sudden differing languages, and more, describes the supernatural actions of God to create this world and ensure that man's choice of sin cannot block His ultimate purpose. This presumption demands that we look outside the conventional box to find the evidence that must be there if we are right. Over the last fifty years of the modern YEC movement an amazing trend of confirming evidence has come to light.

Among the more recent evidence is the remains of original soft tissue in dinosaur bones and other fossils. Along with this tissue is the presence of fast decaying C-14 which cannot last even a hundred thousand years. Also, C-14 has been found in very many sources of fossil carbon
Dr. Doug Petrovitch
throughout the geologic column. These facts utterly deny millions or billions of years of slow gradual evolutionary processes. The trends in this data are so strong that it demands explanation. The scientific method demands we follow the available evidence. But the opposing line of thought have come up with little more than hand-waving arguments from authority. However, YECs have much more including actual geophysical models of a world scale catastrophic flood, models which transition into an ice age which could setup the conditions for the sudden occurrence of civilizations we see in ancient history.

In the coming year, the GHCA will study trough the classroom lectures
Dr. Steven Boyd
of the leading YEC geologist, geophysicist, paleontologist, and archaeologist and other experts at the recent IGH Student and Educators conference.

On October 5th the GHCA will present and discuss the answers some of these experts give to the question, " Why I am a creationist ?" The life stories and spiritual and scientific insights involved in their answers are amazing. We will include geologist Dr. Steve Austin, geologist Dr. Andrew Snelling, paleontologist Dr. Kurt Wise, Hebraist Dr, Steve Boyd, and archaeologist Dr. Doug Petrovitch

Why I am a Creationist ?
from five PhD scientists
Meeting space kindly provided at:
Houston's First Baptist Church
7401 Katy Freeway at Post Oak
Room 143,   7 PM

School has started up and the evolution indoctrination is starting too.  Come and bring your students, friends, skeptics,
or pastors! All are welcome to bring their questions and join the discussion.
There will be great fellowship, snacks, and array of creation books and DVDs as well.  Please forward this newsletter to all who might be interested.

 Blessings to all,

Frank Mayo

P.S.  There is much more about science and scientific evidences on our website: GHCAonline.com . Some major examples of physical evidence we point to include:
  • Remains of original soft tissue still found in dinosaur bones. Along with that tissue is C-14 that would decay completely away in less than a hundred thousand years, a tiny fraction of the dinosaur fossil's supposed age.
  • For many years geologists have found C-14 in fossil carbon throughout the fossil record.
  • The origin of the information and molecular machinery in the first living self-reproducing cell remains a complete enigma for biologist and biochemists.
  • In the origin of the universe, big bang theory is being recognized as a dead end by increasing numbers of secular scientists. The hypothesized inflation has nothing to start it, drive it forward, or stop it. Without inflation fatal flaws appear with the absence of predicted antimatter, magnetic monopoles, or any means for the whole universe to come to the same precise background temperature. Then the formation of the first stars is as enigmatic as the origin of the first biological cell. Dark matter and dark energy are as enigmatic as the deep space motions they are needed to explain.
At the root of all of this are assumptions that may be quite incorrect. Not the least is that there is no God. Another is that present process can be can be used to explain everything in the past. When we look at a canyon we assume the river at the bottom cut the canyon. But perhaps tectonic events made the canyon and there is a river at the bottom because water always flows downhill. At the root of big bang theory is a pure assumption that has been named the "Cosmological Principle". Perhaps inaccuracies there are responsible for the big bang's multitude of problems.

There is more about the role of assumptions in science found on our website here.
Online Attendance Option for GHCA Meetings !

Prayer Needs and Praises!

Christians around the world are being persecuted and murdered to force them out of their homes or to change their faith. Pray for protection for and support from Christian organizations in the West.

John Morris  is said to be recovering well now. But continue to pray for John and all the leaders, researchers, and writers in the YEC community.
