Rally Day & Backpack Blessing
Sunday, August 28. Two worship services, 8:00 and 10:00! Fellowship after the 10:00am service in Parish Hall!
 


Don't forget Rally Day and Backpack Blessing this Sunday!  Rally Day is the special Sunday we set aside to celebrate our ministry and life together. All church and school families are welcome to celebrate with us! 
  •  There is a Rite I worship at 8:00 am and a Combined Rite II Worship at 10:00 am with a backpack blessing for our students and commissioning for our teachers.
  •  After the 10am service, all are  invited to lunch together in the Parish Hall. 
  •  Join in the fun with carnival games, face-painting, and activities for children and the young at heart to enjoy. 
  •  Please dress comfortably for the occasion.
  •  Bring your friends and family and come celebrate with us!

Youth Volunteers Needed for Rally Day

Youth Volunteers are Needed on Sunday, August 27th at 9 a.m. in the Parish Hall to help with Rally Day Set-up and helping with games.

No Children's Chapel or Sunday School
Sunday, August 21st & Sunday, August 28th
 
There will be no Sunday School or Children's Chapel next Sunday, August 21st or on Sunday, August 28th because of our Rally Day service.

Our Sunday School and Children's Chapel programs will resume for the fall on Sunday, September 4th.


Men's Traveling Lunch Bunch
Tuesday, August 30, at 11:30am

The MTLB meets on Tuesday, August 30, at: El Marisol, 10003 NW Military Hwy #2107, at 11:30am. All gentlemen of the parish are welcome to join us for good conversation and fellowship.

"Believe" Bible Study
Classes begin the week of September 4. 
 
This coming year we are all invited into working together towards strengthening our formation as Christians. Believe is a unique spiritual growth experience that takes you on a journey to think, act, and be more like Jesus. 

We will study 10 key beliefs of the Christian faith, 10 key practices of a Jesus-follower and 10 key virtues of becoming more like Christ. Classes begin the week of September 4.

Youth Kickoff Events
Wednesday, August 31st and Labor Day, September 5th!

Middle School Fall Kickoff BBQ this Wednesday, August 31st from 6-7:30 PM at the St. Thomas Playground. Come get to know our Staff and Program! All Middle School Students and Families are Invited!
 
High School Fall Kickoff Swim Party on Monday, September 5th at Sonterra Country Club from 5-7pm, including food.
 
Sunday Night Live for High School Students is 5-7pm on September 11th! Leaving St. Thomas Youth Room for the diocese at 4:30pm. Worship, Games and Music are led by our College Missions Dept. We'll be back at St. Thomas by 8pm. RSVP to Spencer by Sept. 10th.

Offices Closed on Labor Day

Our church and school offices will be closed on Monday, Sept 5 for the Labor Day weekend! We will resume normal business hours on Tuesday, Sept 6th! 


Book Club
Tuesday, September 13, at 10am in the library

Book Club will meet  Tuesday, September 13, 10:00 in the Library.  [note the second Tuesday, not the usual first Tuesday ] We will discuss "Mobey -Duck" by Donovan Hohn. This is a true story of 28,000 bath toys lost at sea and of the beachcombers, oceanographers. and environmentalists who went in search  of them. How many were recovered??  This is a good geography lesson.....an added bonus.

Bridge Bunch
Thursday, September 8, at 10:15am. We meet at the Egg & I off Sonterra Blvd.

We play bridge regularly at The Egg and I on Sonterra Blvd. Our next game is Sept 8 at 10:15. If you haven't played before, come check us out! We have room for more players.

Baptism Preparation Class
Saturday, September 10th, 9am to noon  



In order to be baptized this fall at St. Thomas, you must attend a class to discuss the sacrament of Baptism. Our next class will be on Saturday, Sept 10, from 9am to 12pm. Childcare is available (by request).

Scholastic Book Fair
Monday, September 12 - Friday, September 16

All are welcome to come to our Fall Scholastic Book Fair. It will be held the week of Sept 12-16 at St. Thomas. Proceeds from the book fair benefit our school. Students will have an opportunity to visit the book fair with their class, but the book fair will also be open before and after school hours.

Golf Group
Saturday, September 17. Shotgun start at 8:30am.
 
The next tournament for the St. Thomas Golfers is scheduled Saturday, September 17 at the Alsatian Golf Club in Castroville.  The shotgun start is scheduled at 8:30am and the cost is $35.

St. Thomas Blood Drive

The Bloodmobile will be present in our parking lot to take donations during all 3 services. Avoid the waiting lines by signing up early for a donation time.

Tuesday Afternoon Volunteer Receptionist
Tuesdays  from 12:30pm to 4:30pm, starting Aug 16th.
 
A volunteer receptionist is needed for Tuesday afternoons once school starts, answering phones and assisting with church projects. 4 hour weekly commitment. Training will be provided.
