Dear Congregation:
I want to share an update on Kim Sexton and ask for your continued prayers for her healing and recovery.
Kim was admitted to Frederick Memorial last week for an infection. She had surgery on Friday to remove the infection and yesterday had additional surgery on the site. She is receiving good care and appreciates all your prayers and cards. The family is also receiving meals. If you are interested in providing a meal for the family, please contact Amy and she can get you in touch with the folks organizing the meals.
Kim was scheduled to begin her sabbatical on May 31
st
with a scheduled trip to attend the same Fund for Theological Education conference I attended last week. Obviously, with her infection and surgery, she was not able to attend that event nor will she be able to attend a planned retreat later this month.
In recognition of Kim’s health needs, the elders of the church and the Personnel Committee have revised the terms of her sabbatical. For the month of June, Kim will be on a leave of absence due to illness. The month of July will continue to be sabbatical time. Her plans for July included a program of renewal, reading, and researching curriculum as well as exploring ways we may use the new space for children’s ministries’ programs. The second month of sabbatical will be taken at a later date when a conference or workshop is available for her to attend. The month may be taken as a whole four weeks or if she chooses in two week portions.
Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions or concerns about the terms of Kim’s sabbatical time.
Again, thank you for your care and concern for Kim Sexton.
