Ticket To Ride! 7/12/15

 

 

 

 

2 Timothy 2:12 (KJV)
12  If we suffer, we shall also reign with him: if we deny him, he also will deny us:    

 

As I lay AWAKE in bed last night, (Amanda had a fitful night), I told my LORD that whatever He spoke to me I would faithfully write today.

 

Most people-CHRISTIANS included- do NOT want to hear about, talk about, or be preached to about SUFFERING!

 

But a clear and concise reading and understanding of our Bible confirms this Truth:

 

Acts 14:22 (KJV)
22  Confirming the souls of the disciples, and exhorting them to continue in the faith, and that we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of God.    

 

"THAT WE MUST THROUGH TRIBULATION ENTER INTO THE KINGDOM OF GOD."

 

Did not our Lord and Savior warn US:

 

John 16:33 (KJV)
33  These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.    

 

Just as I have preached and lamented the SAD fact is that too few will attend and/or support the PRAYER meeting, fewer still will attend a conference on SUFFERING!!

 

IMAGINE, if you will, the headline proclaiming:

 

"FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON SUFFERING FOR CHRIST!"

 

Would YOU attend???

 

Do you, can you see vast throngs of people there?

 

MOST of us, including MYSELF, shudder at the thought of attending!

 

But the Bible again clearly states:

 

Proverbs 24:10 (KJV)
10  If thou faint in the day of adversity, thy strength is small.

 

"THE DAY OF ADVERSITY!!??

 

Surely not me, Pastor Doug!!!!!!?????

 

Jeremiah 12:5 (KJV)
5  If thou hast run with the footmen, and they have wearied thee, then how canst thou contend with horses? and if in the land of peace, wherein thou trustedst, they wearied thee, then how wilt thou do in the swelling of Jordan?    

 

Beloved, God is intent on raising up WARRIORS, not cheerleaders!!!

 

God is looking for YOU-YES YOU-YOU UN-heralded and UN-seen FIGHTER!!!

 

YOU, who suffers in silence and obscurity.

 

YOU, who refuses to bow, though broken.

 

THE LAST DEJECTED EFFORT OFTEN BECOMES THE WINNING STROKE!

 

"NEVER GIVE UP-NEVER, NEVER, NEVER GIVE UP!"

 

I am reminded of the late, great Corrie Ten Boom, made famous by the excellent book, "THE HIDING PLACE."

 

She, as a young girl in war torn Germany, feared suffering and perhaps dying for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

 

The Holocaust was erupting around her and corruption and evil abounded.

 

Her wizened, OLD father asked her a question:

 

"Corrie, you know we take the train to market every Saturday.

 

WHEN do I give you your ticket???"

 

Little Corrie replied, "Father, just before I board the train!"

 

The GREAT news is that OUR LOVING HEAVENLY FATHER also knows when to give us the "TICKET TO RIDE!"
