Dear Tiger Athletes,
Summer is definitely here and the days seem to be getting shorter already. So much has happened since our last E-newsletter, we couldn't wait to share it with you before Fall sneaks up on us! One of the most exciting things to share is that after six years of renting space all over the Twin Cities to host small group and athletic development based training for youth and adults, we decided it was time to open our own. We are happy to announce TIGER FIT, a Tiger Athletics Studio, opened its doors June 8, 2012 at a very convenient location right off the luce line trails in Plymouth on Vicksburg Lane, bordering Wayzata and Minnetonka. Now come see what all the buzz is about - no excuses!
And our team? AMAZING! Welcome: Spencer Bata, Ashley Brooks, Jesse Forsell, Jenni Greenway, Jennifer Jesse, Emilie Hance, Pam Sime, Erika Winkels, Joe Winkels.

Youth TIGER TOUCH Soccer Clinic at MapleBrook Sports Dome

TIGER ATHLETICS partners with MAPLEBROOK SOCCER ASSOCIATION for athletic functional training and development blended with soccer skill and technique. Introducing Summer & Fall SAQ Training sessions:
Session 1 - Wednesdays: 7/11, 7/18, 7/25, 8/1 9-10am; $20/session Session 2 - Wednesdays: Sept/Oct dates to be announced Click here to register. Our goal is to improve soccer players and athletes by providing a positive learning environment, including an age and skill appropriate training curriculum administered by trained coaches who develop athletes in the technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the game. WHAT WE DO:
- Assess individual movement and mechanics
- Identify specific abilities requiring improvements
- Integrate speed, agility, quickness, balance, strength, rhythm and coordination in an innovative fun manner in order to develop an athlete's technique, skills, confidence and enjoyment of athletics

 WHAT COLOR IS YOUR FOOD?
People need different amounts of fruits and vegetables depending on their age, gender and amount of daily physical activity. To learn your daily recommendation, visit www.fruitsandveggiesmatter.gov/. For example, the recommendation for a 40-year-old male who gets about 60 minutes of daily physical activity is 2 cups of fruit and 3 1/2 cups of vegetables. The recommendation for a 15-year-old female who gets less than 30 minutes of daily physical activity is 1 1/2 cups of fruit and 2 1/2 cups of vegetables.
To meet their daily goal, most people need to increase the amount of fruits and vegetables they eat every day. All product forms count -- fresh, frozen, canned, dried and 100% juice. Whole fruits, however, usually contain more fiber than juice. What's a serving size anyway?
One cup equals:
-1 small apple, 1 large banana, 2 cups of raw greens, 12 baby carrots, 1 large orange, 1 large bell pepper, 1 medium grapefruit, 1 large sweet potato.
Benefits to eating more fruits & veggies daily: -reduced risk of chronic diseases, including strokes, type 2 diabetes, some types of cancer, and perhaps heart disease and high blood pressure.

 NIKE+ FUELBAND. This device ($149) tracks your activity through a sport-tested accelerometer, then translates every move into NikeFuel. The Nike+ FuelBand has tracking features that monitor your steps, calories burned, and time, but introduces a game-like point system (called FuelPoints) to keep you motivated. FuelPoints are a metric to measure your overall fitness, based on your oxygen intake. The more you move, the more FuelPoints you'll earn.
