October Newsletter:
Participate. Inspire. New You. Knowledge.

Participate:  Calling all Thrivers, Survivors, and Supporters!

What you can do!

We are all too familiar with the publicity and promotion of Breast Cancer Awareness month. Together, let's take it a step further!  Our generous partners have joined us by hosting events and fundraisers throughout October to benefit Tigerlily Foundation so that we may continue to serve young women before, during and after breast cancer. You may participate too at these events!  It is our hope that communities and individuals would share our commitment and desire to make a difference in the lives of young women facing the challenges of treatment, acceptance of their new bodies thereafter, and a future where 1 in 3 breast cancer survivors will become metastatic.  Let's come together, and choose to participate this month by volunteering, attending an event, sponsoring a program, organizing a fundraiser, educating others, advocating for more research, or simply by donating so that Tigerlily may continue to be a voice for the breast cancer community.

One Woman's Movement to Inspire Others

Lash Boost for a Cause!

Lash Boost for a Cause campaign is generously sponsored by Alex Parker, Rodan and Fields Independent Consultant.  Alex was driven to do something special to impact the lives of others which led her to contact Tigerlily Foundation in hopes of partnering on this project. Lash Boost is a non-prescription product giving women longer, fuller and darker looking lashes and eyebrows within a few short months.  Not only does it enhance beauty on the outside, it can help restore the beauty within women going through debilitating cancer treatment.  Donors may purchase Last Boost to be added to Tigerlily Hope Bags shipped to breast cancer warriors.  Alex is also donating part of the proceeds directly to Tigerlily programs!  What simply started with a heart to give to others, has evolved into a project to help breast cancer survivors and patients boost their confidence and self-esteem during their journey to better health and happiness!  What an inspiration!

Please contact us at [email protected] if you have a fundraising opportunity in mind!  You can make a difference today ! Thank you!

New You:
Beauty. Strength. Transformation.
Tigerlily Foundation is one of the premier global organizations providing education, awareness, advocacy, empowerment and transformational programs to girls, young women, breast cancer survivors, metavivors and caregivers - before, during and after breast cancer. Our programs impact young women of diverse ethnic backgrounds, underserved communities and those facing health disparities. Our programs also incorporate spirituality, holistic health, prevention, wellness, support and survivorship programs to help you live your best life and to embrace the "new you" after diagnosis.

This month, our MY (Metastatic Young) LIFE (Living In Focus, Empowered) podcast program features an eye-opening interview with Tigerlily friend, Shonte Drakeford, as she shares her journey as a registered nurse and Veteran's wife to metastatic breast cancer patient and advocate. Shonte uses her diagnosis as a catalyst to accept her new normal, while embracing the beauty that remains in the life she chooses to live through a new lens.  Listen to her story of beauty, strength, and transformation.  And, join us for upcoming Podcast programs!

MBC Alliance Study:
Estimation of the Number of Women Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer in the United States

MBC Alliance has recently published their latest study - Estimation of the Number of Women Living with Metastatic Breast Cancer in the United States - in the journal Cancer Epidemiology, Biomarkers & Prevention.

The study, led by Dr. Angela Mariotto of the National Cancer Institute (NCI), was conducted in partnership with the Alliance as the Research Task Force worked to develop the most accurate epidemiology information and statistics on the disease. Kudos to Musa Mayer for her leadership as a co-author of the study along with Marc Hurlbert and others.
