 June 2017
Dear PTA Member & Friend of PTA,
What a great year it's been!  We truly appreciate all the work you do in your local schools every day to help children reach their full potential.

As we come to the end of the school year, take a moment to celebrate the accomplishments of your local PTA, and help us celebrate the great things going on at Idaho PTA. We were so excited to give out Leadership, Membership, and Reflections awards at our annual convention this year.  Take a look through the list, and set a goal to put yourself and your PTA on the list next year!

It's not too soon to look forward to the next school year.  Our fall training conferences will be here before you know it!  Set aside time to receive valuable training at these conferences.  And mark your calendar to join us at the Capitol on January 25, 2018 for our annual Legislative Day.

In the meantime, soak up some sun and enjoy your summer!  See you in the fall!

Lesli Schei
Idaho PTA President

Idaho PTA Educator of the Year:
Amy Brown, Indian Hills Elementary
Amy Brown teaches Third Grade at Indian Hills Elementary School in Pocatello, Idaho.   She began her career as the Early Childhood Librarian at the Marshall Public Library, then taught at the Idaho Virtual Academy for ten years.  She began her brick and mortar teaching at Indian Hills Elementary three years ago.  She is a member of the Building Leadership team at her school, and acts as a liaison between parents and teachers.  She attends PTA meetings regularly, and attends PTA events.  Many times, with Mrs. Brown's encouragement, her class wins PTA hosted contests like Box Tops, Copper Wars, and PTA membership.
Amy is a mother of two teenage boys.  She shares lessons she and her boys learned with her students, and the students love hearing about her boys.  She occasionally has them visit the class to help with reading and to share the team work and hard work lessons they have learned on the basketball court.  Her role as both parent and teacher gives her a unique perspective that her coworkers say is open and thoughtful.
