Goodbye Summer - Hello Fall

Cool weather can't be too far behind!
We are going to take a little break
Labor Day is almost here and we will be closed on Sunday and Monday September 3rd and 4th. We want all our gals to have a fun weekend with their families and not have to "labor" on this holiday.  We will be open Saturday, September 2nd our regular hours of 9:30 - 5:30.
If you are participating in the Row by Row, we will have our complimentary patterns only thru September 6th so be sure and visit us soon.
Our prayers are with the Gulf Coast of our state as we head into the last week of August.  We have been very blessed in the Hill Country to miss the damage and unprecedented rainfall amounts.
         Shibori 2 by Debbie Maddy
This collection of fabric strikes a cord with us.  It is so simple, clean, and works great for the modern quilter in all of us.
Debbie Maddy is one of our favorite designers and we have all known her for the "No Y seam patterns" she made famous.
She has studied multiple times in Japan to master the techniques of Shibori stitching and Indygo dyeing. She has created a second line for Moda called Shibori II.   All of the prints in the line are her original designs that Moda has duplicated.
You can see the entire collection as well as pattern suggestions and pre-cuts at  Shibori Stitching .
         Time to Make a Tuffet
              October 3rd - 5th

We have our Fall Tuffet Retreat on the schedule.  Join us October 3rd - 5th to create your own tuffet. You can come as a day student or make it a 2 night stay at The Main House .
With 2 instructors there is ample time to complete your tuffet.
Our class starts on Tuesday, October 3rd at 1pm and is over Thursday, October 5th after lunch.  This gives you plenty of time for travel before the class and after if you are coming a distance.
The price for the 2 day class, 2 night stay at The Main House and 6 meals is $295.00. If you want to come as a day student, the class and meals is $195.00.
There is a kit to purchase for your tuffet that includes the base, feet, foam, batting, button, and cord.  It has everything you need to complete your tuffet except the pattern and fabric. The kit is $129.00.  The fusible interfacing pattern is $29.98.  The minimum fabric requirement is 9 fat quarters.
Our classes fill fast and we only take a limited number of students so be sure and give us a call at 830-896-8088 to register.  Once we have your registration, we will send you the pattern and the supply list.  If you purchase a kit, we will have it at your table at the opening of class.

         40th Anniversary Quilt Challenge

We are presenting our 40th Anniversary Quilt Challenge, "Stir what you got!".  It will be a fun way to share our talents and give comfort to children in our community.  To inspire you, we will be giving away   $1,400.00 in Creations' gift certificates to the winners.
We are all busy with projects, but to take time to make a quilt for  a child you will never meet is what quilting is all about.  We so appreciate those who have chosen to help the kids in our county.
This is how it works.  Come by the shop and purchase one of our $15.00 strip sets like those in the photo.  These contain at least 3 yards of fabric in various strip widths that are loosely coordinated.  Use it in combination with your own fabric to create a quilt. Completely finish the quilt, turn it in to Creations by March 12th, 2018 and have a chance to win one of our gift certificates.
We will display the quilts at The Main House, our retreat center, March 15th - 17th in celebration of our 40th Anniversary.  Winners will be determined by viewer's choice.  There are no categories so any form of piecing, applique, embroidery will be appreciated.  The only requirement is that you use a recognizable portion of the strip roll you select, either on the front or back.  We encourage you to enter as many quilts as you would like as they will all go to the Rainbow Room in Kerrville. Each entry must be accompanied by the official entry form which is given with each bundle purchased.  All of the donated quilts will stay within our county.
Your quilts will go to children so we are suggesting that the size be no smaller than 40" wide and no longer than 70" tall.  These are just guidelines. All quilts will be loved.

Prizes will be gift certificates to Creations.
First Place  --  $400.00
Second Place  --  $300.00
Third Place  --  $200.00
Fourth Place  --  $100.00
Choices 5 - 10 will each receive a $40.00 gift certificate
As a special thank you, the one who enters the most finished quilts will receive a $200.00 gift certificate to Creations. Every person who turns in a finished quilt will receive a coupon for 40% off the purchase of one packaged batting.  We will accept any quilts for the donation, but only those accompanied by our official entry form will be eligible for gift certificates.

Although each person can win only one gift certificate, we hope you will enter often. (Remember, there is a special gift certificate for the one who enters the most finished quilts.) We have some great prizes, but the best satisfaction is in sharing your talents to help the children in our community. We all recognize the comfort a quilt can give.

The Rainbow Room is a "store" that CPS case workers can go to and select new items that have been donated or purchased through donations.  These include mostly the essentials, but what a wonderful opportunity to have quilts available for selection as well.  The Rainbow Room is funded totally by donations.

Come by and pick up your bundle and get started on your donation to this wonderful cause.  Help us celebrate 40 years by helping others.  To read more about our quilt challenge, the Rainbow Room, and how our challenge got it's name, visit our blog at "Stir what you got Quilt Challenge".

If you can't come to the shop, we would still love to have you participate.  Just call us at 830-896-8088, we'll pick you a bundle and even pay the postage to get it to you!
       City Scene by Northcott Fabrics
If you are an aspiring art quilter, or you just love contemporary fabrics, then you will want to check out the line we just received from Northcott Fabrics.
City Scene comes in two colorways and just 5 prints each, but what a dynamic group of prints.  I think I would just like to frame the fabric and hang it like a picture.  Maybe a little stitching would be fun to add.
You can see them all at  City Scene .
Did you miss one of our last newsletters?
We continually get new merchandise, move, tweek, adjust, and try to improve our shop for your inspiration.  There is still time to pick up your free pattern during the Row by Row international shop hop that continues thru September 6th.
If you are new to our list, or just have been out of touch, you can view our past 3 newsletters on our  Creations' Blog . Just look on the top bar and you can click on "newsletters."  Enjoy.

We look forward to seeing you in the shop, or visit us on line. We appreciate your support over our 39 years in business.  Thank you.
We hope you will help us celebrate our 40th Anniversary by participating in our quilt challenge.
