Quad Quote

"This place is too great to keep it to ourselves. I realized that Hollins isn't just one thing. It's different for every one of us, and it changes on a daily basis."

- Gabby Awuma '14, president of the Student Government Association, in her opening convocation speech.

Hollins Reunion 2014

Seeking Your

JFK Memories

Were you at Hollins on November 22, 1963? This fall, Hollins will join the nation in commemorating the 50th anniversary of the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. As part of our remembrance, we are asking those of you who were students at Hollins on November 22, 1963, to share your memories of that tragic day: Where were you when you heard the news? How did you find out? What was the impact of President Kennedy's assassination on both you and the campus community? In November, we will post your personal stories on the Hollins website and on our Facebook pages as we reflect upon the death of our 35th president. Please send your recollections to Jeff Hodges, Hollins' director of public relations, at jhodges@hollins.edu by October 31.

 Spotlight on a Hollins Tradition:

Tinker Day

Tinker Day, observed since the 1880s, occurs in October. It became an official holiday in 1895. The surprise element, which was introduced in 1899, adds to the excitement of the day. Tinker Day hasn't happened yet in 2013 - when do you think
it will be?

Rally for Referrals

Alumnae: Join the #RallyforHollins and help your class win! You are invited to a virtual Tinker Day hike - for referrals. Your referral of a high school senior to Hollins will get us closer to our goal of 50 new referrals by November 1. The class that "hikes" to the top of Tinker Mountain with the most referrals by Tinker Day will win the rally. Check our Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram for updates on the #RallyforHollins. Forward march!

Suzy Mink '74 and Anna Moncure '07

We are pleased to welcome back to Hollins an alumna of the class of 1974, Suzy Mink, who is serving as our senior philanthropic advisor.

Mink Suzy graduated from Hollins with a major in Spanish and a minor in art history. After completing her graduate studies at the University of Virginia, she returned to Hollins to serve in the development office in the annual giving program. Since that time she has held many development positions at a variety of institutions including Washington National Cathedral, Drew University, World Wildlife Fund, the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, and the Nature Conservancy. Please feel free to be in touch with Suzy at minks@hollins.edu.

Moncure We are also pleased to share that Anna Moncure, class of 2007, has been promoted to the position of director of alumnae engagement.
