Johnnetta B.Cole, Ph.D., former president of Spelman College and Bennett College for Women and currently the director of the Smithsonian National Museum of African Art in D.C., will be the guest speaker.

Hollins Among Nation's "25 Colleges with the Best Professors"

Hollins is among the country's "25 Colleges with the Best Professors," according to The Center for College Affordability and Productivity, which bases its rankings on student-submitted evaluations. In addition to Hollins, three other single-sex colleges are on the list (Wellesley College, Bryn Mawr College, and Wabash College). Read more

Career Center Renovated, Updated

Lorimer and Ellis Renovations to the Hollins Career Center's first floor location in West Building, made possible by the financial support of trustee Linda Lorimer '74 and Charley Ellis (pictured), were completed in conjunction with the beginning of Spring Term 2013. While new furniture, artwork, and wall colors give the center warmth (thanks to the design expertise of Elaine Stephenson '83), the latest technology offers students access to a wide range of career-related activities and resources. Wyndham Robertson '58 Inducted Into NC Journalism Hall of Fame

Robertson Hollins alumna Wyndham Robertson '58 has been named to the North Carolina Journalism Hall of Fame. Wyndham was the first female editor at Fortune magazine and is a former business editor of Time magazine. The induction ceremony takes place April 21 in Chapel Hill. Read more

Kennedy Center Awards for Hollins Theatre

Decision Height The Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival honored a Hollins Theatre original production and two of the university's student playwrights with national awards as part of its annual recognition of outstanding theatrical work by colleges and universities across the country. Hollins Theatre's staging of Natasha Trethewey's M.A. '91 Bellocq's Ophelia received four distinguished awards, the equivalent of silver medals. Meredith Dayna Levy '12, who is currently pursuing a master's degree in the Playwright's Lab at Hollins, won the National Partners of the American Theatre Playwriting Award, considered a gold medal, as well as the regional David Shelton Award for her original script, Decision Height, which premiered at Hollins last October. Another graduate student in the Playwright's Lab, Kevin Ferguson, was honored as a National Finalist for The John Cauble Award for Outstanding Short Play for his script, Losing SightRead more

Golfer #6 in the Nation


Junior Elizabeth Cheng is ranked sixth in the nation according to the March 28 Golfstat rankings.

She and her teammates have entered seven events this golf season. Individually, Cheng has finished in the top 10 in every event, including three wins, a second, and a pair of thirds. For their first event of the spring, the Hollins team competed in the prestigious Jekyll Island Collegiate Invitational. On the back of a second round, one under par 71, Cheng finished atop the 120 golfer field during the three day event. She beat 10 of the top 20 golfers in the nationOn the heels of her win, Cheng was named ODAC Women's Golfer of the Week for the fifth time this season.  Watch a video about Cheng
