The beginning of a new semester presents many opportunities to engage and motivate students. Even before the first day of class, teachers can begin to create positive learning environments which help sustain momentum throughout the semester.
Syllabus as Infographic
The syllabus usually reads like the fine print of a contract, full of important information and fine details that few actually read until they have a problem. A study by Mocek (2016) found that syllabus design can help change this, especially with at-risk first semester students. Presenting the same information in more visually appealing and intuitive ways can lead to better retention of important syllabus information.
