TireSocks Talk

January 2016

HAPPY 2016!
Here we are, and it is the end of January. How time does fly by! Reminds me of the Pink Floyd song "Time" and the lyrics:
"And then one day you find ten years have got behind you.
No one told you when to run, you missed the starting gun."

So why is it as we get older time seems to go so fast, and when we were younger three months seemed like an eternity? My theory is the act of truly living in the moment. As children, we don't have the pressure of work, mortgages and paying bills. We are truly just being, and allowing our creative imaginations to take us to far off destinations.

So how can we as adults live in the moment? There are many different ways to slow the monkey mind and become present. Here are just a few examples: meditation, yoga, closing your eyes and taking in three deep breaths, horseback riding, surfing, coloring, and drawing.

Time is really all we have. Once it's gone, we can never get it back. Cherish the time you do have, and live as fully as you can in 2016!

To celebrate the coming year, the TireSocks Crew had some fun in the photo booth to ring in 2016. Check out our photo strips in this month's edition of Inside TireSocks, Inc

New Year Resolutions
Did you make any New Year's Resolutions for yourself? Studies show that only eight percent of people are successful in achieving their goals. That's a pretty sad success rate. Where did resolutions come from in the first place?

4,000 years ago the ancient Babylonians started resolutions in March, at the beginning of their harvest, and made promises to their gods to pay off their debts and return items they had borrowed. The Romans offered sacrifices to the two-faced god, Janus, believing the deity could look into the past year and into the future. Christians started the tradition on new year's day of thinking about one's past mistakes and vowing to do better in the future.
