Christopher Street West (CSW) is proud to announce this year's 2016 LA PRIDE Festival Arts and Culture program.

This year's exhibition will feature a collection of works from renowned LGBTQ artists TOM OF FINLAND, SETH BOGART and PEGGY NOLAND, JD SAMSON and DREW DENNY, LISS LAFLEUR, VAN JAZMIN, ONCH MOVEMENT, MILLIE BROWN, and ZACKARY DRUCKER.

Censorship in West Hollywood

The City of West Hollywood celebrates Women's History Month, and kicked off the series of events by offering the community a lesson on censorship. The city censored art made by a woman that showed nude females. According to the artist, Brooke Mason, who keeps her studio in West Hollywood, two of her works were deemed "overtly sexual," and, therefore, should be hidden away from public view.

Musical on Tom of Finland
Next Year in Turku
Tom of Finland Musical

A musical depicting the life of the visual artist Touko Laaksonen, best known by his pseudonym Tom of Finland, will premiere at the Turku City Theatre in January 2017.

Playwright Tuomas Parkkinen's words and lyrics focus on Laaksonen's art, its effects, and the man's dreams.

"The musical tells the story of Touko Laaksonen's journey to become Tom of Finland. A man, who drew his fantasies so true and accessible that millions of men found themselves and their sexuality," Parkkinen said.

TOM House Review

At first glance, the four-floor Craftsman-style house at 1421 Laveta Terrace looks like the kind of perfect fixer-upper that would be snapped up by the kinds of cashed-up creative types flocking to Los Angeles' Echo Park neighborhood. But this wholesome looking 106-year-old house, situated behind a manicured evergreen hedge, is a shrine to desire of a distinctly non-real estate kind.

Tom House, as its become known, was the erstwhile home and workplace of renegade Finnish artist Touko Laaksonen, perhaps the most influential homoerotic artist of the 20th century (as featured in W*188). Now home to the Tom of Finland Foundation and the team who faithfully administer it, the property has been immortalized for the first time in Tom House, a deluxe new volume from Rizzoli, published 8th March.

Kiitos to a crew and cast that take nothing for granted, who know
the importance of telling the story of Tom, an heroic Finn, a Gay hero.
Your dedication will never be forgotten.
Kiitos paljon.

Federal Court Rules
You Have No Constitutional Right to Engage in

Court Rules Against Sex
The United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia released its decision in the case of Doe v. George Mason University et al. and, for some reason, they felt compelled to weigh in on whether there is a constitutional right to engage in consensual BDSM sex. Their answer is, 'no.'

In the case of  Doe v. George Mason University et al., a George Mason student was expelled for allegedly having sex with a woman without her consent because he failed to stop their BDSM sex after his partner said the 'safe word.'

The plaintiff alleged that the George Mason University administration "'disregarded' the BDSM context of the relationship and how it 'affected matters like consent and related issues' and treated a BDSM relationship as 'per se sexual misconduct,'" and thus violated his right to engage in consensual sexual activity as well.
