The TODAY Story

Jeff NewmanReady or not – here come the holidays!

It seems as though we just finished ringing in 2010 and now here we are staring at the year-end holidays.  Most of us are eagerly anticipating the traditional Thanksgiving celebration with friends and family.  Then it’s right into the Christmas and New Year’s holiday weekends.  Today Cleaners wants to help make sure your holiday plans are perfect and that you and your home look great.

If you are hosting guests at home and would like to spruce up the spare bedroom linens, bring those comforters, bedspreads and pillow shams in for cleaning.  In addition, we can clean and press your tablecloths, table runners and napkins.  Everything will look great and you will save lots of time too!

If you plan to celebrate the holidays at one of many social gatherings, parties, church events or just “going out” let Today Cleaners spruce up your wardrobe.  Whether it’s a fancy dress, holiday sweater, sport jacket or special tie we can make it look like new.

Don’t forget about the spills and stains.  There always seems to be a gravy stain, a spilled beverage, candle wax or other accident that is discovered afterwards.  Time is the difference between successful stain removal and something “less”.  When you notice something has been spilled upon or stained, prompt treatment and cleaning is your best bet.  Today Cleaners has the most convenient locations and hours to insure that you may get your items professionally cleaned, pressed and returned to you right away.  Don’t forget to clean those holiday garments and linens before storage too.  Many spills may not be immediately visible but may discolor the fabric over time and become “permanent”.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS from TODAY CLEANERS!
Store of the Month Exclusive Coupon
Today Cleaners’ store in the Northridge Plaza Shopping Center at Auburn Street and Fairfax Road (5600 Auburn, Suite V.) earned Store of the Month honors for October.  Today Cleaners opened here in 1988 as an original tenant right behind the Circle K.  Features here include the GreenEarth cleaning system, 24 Hour Drop Box, a full service laundry including new shirt finishing equipment and of course, In by 11 – Ready at 4 Service, 7 Days a Week.

Heather Stotler, store manager since October 2009, began working for Today Cleaners in 2003.  Heather and her staff compete with the other nine Today Cleaners stores by earning the most points for quality, on-time performance, new customer data entry accuracy, sales growth and cost efficiencies among other measures.  For winning Store of the Month the staff is treated to lunch on the boss and will be in the running for Store of the Year honors to be awarded in January, 2011.  Congratulations to Heather and her staff for winning this honor!
TODAY Saves The Day
A customer in East Bakersfield noticed a stain on her comforter and had guests arriving that afternoon.  She had called several other cleaners and was told that it would take two to three days to get her comforter cleaned.  She explained her situation to the staff at the Auburn Today Cleaners store and they told her to bring it in.  Several hours later she had the comforter back at home, on the bed clean and fresh and no one had even noticed it was gone.

A TODAY customer at the Ming and New Stine location had big compliments for the store’s Assistant Manager.  On a Sunday evening, the customer arrived and needed to pick up his uniform that was in the store in order to go to work the next morning.  The Assistant Manager had already closed the store but returned from her car to retrieve his uniform.  He called her a “lifesaver”.

A Marketplace customer had glued his uniform insignias to his shirt and now needed to remove them.  The glue residue remained and he was in a panic.  The Store Manager successfully removed the entire adhesive and he was then able to sew his new patches on without having to replace the shirt.

Many customers have been able to get a spot or stain removed while they wait; usually they are on their way to an important meeting and discovered the spot after leaving their house.  We have also replaced buttons for customers while they wait; it only takes a minute!
Tip of the Day
If you plan to have a comforter, dust ruffle, bedspread or pillow shams that are part of a set cleaned, bear in mind the following helpful hints:
  1. It is always best to clean all matching pieces at the same time. Under the best of conditions, there may be slight fading or luster changes to the material. If only part of the set is processed the difference may be noticeable.
  2. Point out any known or suspected stains, holes, snags or loose hems. If the problems can be addressed before processing the opportunity for damage will be significantly reduced. Please advise if the items being dry cleaned are for the very first time or have been dry cleaned before. If an item is brought in wet, it will have to be air-dried prior to processing if the item requires dry cleaning.
  3. In order to properly process your household items we typically require three days service. We return large items to you in convenient, vinyl zippered storage bags just like when new.

More Customer Compliments
Most everyone knows Turk, owner of Turk’s Kern Copy, Inc. downtown.  Turk has been a loyal customer of Today Cleaners for more years than he can remember.  He recently stopped by our administrative office to pay special compliments to the staff at our Downtown store at 21st and H Streets.  He says that the staff is always so happy and upbeat, even when the drive-thru is packed with cars.  The staff always greets Turk by name and makes him feel as if he is the most important customer they have.  He especially enjoys the personalized service that Nicole, the Manager and Caitie, the Assistant Manager give him.  When they see him drive up, they start getting his orders off the conveyor, ready to send him on his way.  Turk says he “wouldn’t go anywhere else!”   Speaking of the Downtown store another long-time customer Mr. S recently arrived to pick up his order and there were two other cars ahead of him in the drive-thru lane.  He thought, “Oh – this will take a while”.  To his amazement, the clerk recognized him, retrieved his order from the conveyor and since he is a Today Cleaners Express Pickup customer with his credit card information encypted in the Today Cleaners system, brought his order directly to his car and he was off in a flash.  He was very impressed and is very happy to be a Today Cleaners Express Customer.
Mr. B, a Market Place Today Cleaners customer, recently delivered a bag of chocolates for the store staff. He reported to the store manager that he often comes by the store before the 7:00 AM opening time but since the staff recognizes him they always open up the door to take care of him and get him on his way.
