Well, I survived 3 days without power and did not melt - despite the over 100 degree temps here in Central VA! Thank you for all the well wishes sent via email and Facebook! Hopefully we have seen the worst of it and can get back to normal life - which for me is dealing with all of you! LOL! Anyway ... the emails below were sent to me last Friday morning, before mother nature decided to visit me. :-) Trish

I'm an avid Sox fan from Somerset MA and had this photo of Jerry from the Somerset Musictown Parade; I'm unsure of the exact date but probably in the 70s. I'm curious about the sign; did Jerry spell his name with a "G" at one time, or did someone "goof" on the sign??
I'm really looking forward to the new restaurant opening in the fall and hoping it will be a hugh success!

Kudos to Linda from NH, she hit the nail on the head with Valentine and his discussing players in a negative way and I have said this from the day he got the gig. He had a lot of the wrong things to say about players when doing color on ESPN and some Sox and they have not been forgotten and to be quite honest I have seen enough of him on tv commercials for DD and Jordans and others. Manage the team, Nuff said. Tough loss in Seattle but a great pitching performance by both sides. So let's hope for a streak and we know that we don't have to face Pettite or CC so that should be a help in a few days.Have a great weekend RSN and Carpe DIEM.

Stuff: Mark, you usually write your article about "information" that was common knowledge about two weeks prior - and was a waste of my time to read it. This past article was not only non-informative but also ridiculous when referring negatively to Pedey. At least try to write something that makes some sort of sense! If the Sox had 9 Pedeys in the lineup and in the field, they would be unbeatable. Linda, you are correct in backing Pedey regarding his comments to Bobby - he's evolving into a leader for the Sox. You are wrong; however, about Bobby's comments about Youk. Bobby doesn't whitewash any situation and doesn't go about caressing his players' egos a la Tito. He treats his players like grown men, not overgrown kids. Was he wrong in what he said? No! Youk was distracted by a new marriage and accompanying child on the way - Bobby tried to wake him up! Tony - I luv ya ...
Phil from Idaho

Linda from NH, I agree with you 100% ! Why to state it. It seems some people love name dropping and that's rather silly. Maybe, since they know so much, they should look for a job managing a team! They have the know how and know the people so it should not be too much to get that top job. Some sound like they can run a MLB team and do great! Well, last night was certainly a pitching duel and Seattle lasted longer than we did. I hope tonight (Friday) we turn it around and rock their world! The boys in red have go and show everyone they can play ball somewhere else besides Boston.

First of all, John Hallman, thank you for your reply. I am sure that you feel the way you explained. So for me, the subject is closed. Tony, you are right. I should not speak for Phil's mind so I revise my statement "My Great Mind Satisfies Me". As for Youk, yes he was injured but also showed signs of slowing down. First base would have been his only sensible option. We also had a number of retreads and young players who were filling the gap. Of course there is no reason for me to bring up Beltre. My comments were solely based on gut feeling, nothing else. And I have repeatedly called for moving Youk out since. BTW, I will not look for a parking space while waiting for Phil's "getting to know you" party. Linda, you and many other blind faith loyalists have taken the Valentine comment so far out of context that it has become a legend. His comment about Youk's play was in response to a question about his physical condition, not his attitude. Gordon Edes was the one who reported it incorrectly and every one ran with it. He is a waste of oxygen. Maybe we can trade him to Fox?
