It's time for a "Red Out"! The Senior Beta Club will sponsor the sixth annual "Red Out" on Friday, February 9th. Students will be encouraged to wear red to school and to the home basketball games that night so we can red out the stands and create awareness about heart disease. The Spirit Shop is selling Red Out shirts available for purchase through the

Westfield is offering "Explore!" for Middle and Upper School students. This week of mini-enrichment classes, scheduled February 5-8, taught by Westfield faculty gives students the opportunity to explore, discover, and learn about a variety of topics outside of traditional classroom courses and teaching methods. Each student will choose one mini-enrichment class to pursue during
Explore!
Week. A sampling of classes being offered includes: college survival, exercise (Zumba),
God’s Not Dead
the movie, wiffle ball, jewelry making, and understanding defensive football strategies just to name a few. This type of school enrichment program is designed to help students develop new interests and hobbies which help them learn independently and also to encourage life-long learning.
The primary reason for “Explore!” week is to promote a love of learning, shares William Carroll, Head of School. "We believe that lifelong learning is going to be even more important for our current students than it has been for the previous generations. The technological progress and interdependence of the global economy indicates that successful people will need to be adaptable and resilient. Individuals are better suited for the resilience and adaptability as they learn to enjoy and even delight in learning new things," he says. "This type of school enrichment program is designed to help students develop new interests and hobbies which help them learn independently and also to encourage life-long learning. “Explore!” week encourages learning new things just for the sake of learning and is designed to do so in a pleasant and stimulating environment." #westfieldexplore

Fourth Grade Science: Dissecting Owl Pellets
Fourth grade scientists in Mrs. Amber Churcher's class have discovered a fun and hands-on way to learn about the food chain, particularly the eating habits of birds of prey, by dissecting owl pellets. The owl pellets (sterilized and ordered from a biological supply lab) contained regurgitated bones, fur, and feathers from various rodents because owls cannot digest them. Students also learned about the skeletal system of various animals by identifying the bones that they discovered during their dissections.
