  Greetings!
What a great week to be a Westfield Hornet! Our students, faculty, and staff have had a blast celebrating Homecoming Week 2017 with dress up days...and we are looking forward to tomorrow's festivities and pep rally! Check out photos from the entire week on our school Facebook and Instagram pages! Be sure to join us tomorrow night for the pre-game Homecoming parade at 6:45 p.m., followed by the presentation of special awards by the Board of Trustees and the Westfield-Beechwood-Baker Alumni Association. Cheer on the Hornets as they take on Memorial Day School with kickoff at 7:30 p.m., and watch the introduction of our Homecoming Court and the crowning of our 2017 Homecoming Queen at halftime! Alumni of Westfield, Beechwood, and Baker and their families are invited to the pre-game Alumni BBQ starting at 6 p.m. on the grassy area near the softball field.

Vespidae Yearbook Dedication

Upper School students gave a tremendous round of applause to celebrate the dedication of the 2016-17 Vespidae yearbook to a very special group of people in the Westfield family. Kenadee Deal '16 , Editor-in-Chief of the yearbook and now a freshman at Georgia College & State University, along with Mr. Robert Jones, yearbook adviser, presented the yearbook in dedication to Mr. Matt Mellette, Ms. Kathy Wellman, and Mr. Ricky Salensky. Kenadee shared, "From fixing iPhone screens to making repairs around campus, Mr. Matt, Mr. Ricky, and Ms. Kathy have been working hard to keep our campus in shape for many years. With love in their hearts and smiles on their faces, these hard working people are the best staff members Westfield could ask for. Thank you, Mr. Matt, Mr. Ricky, and Ms. Kathy for making your mark on not only Westfield's buildings, but also on the people inside. We love y'all!" #vespidaeyearbook

Hands on Learning: Lower School Science
Fourth graders in Mrs. Amber Churcher's class have been learning about the different kinds of rocks. They decided to make a few edible "rocks" of their own to deepen their understand of how Igneous, Sedimentary, and Metamorphic rocks are formed. What better way to learn science than through food!  #westfieldscience #STEAM #interactivelearning
Third graders in Mrs. Lisa New's science class planted their seedlings this week for a sunflower garden. We can't wait to watch them grow! #westfieldscience #handsonlearning #STEM

See You at the Pole for Prayer

Students gathered this week during both the Upper School and Middle School assembly programs for "See You at the Pole," a national event held each year for students across the country to gather together to pray for their school, community, and nation. Westfield alum Kyle Barfield, youth pastor of Perry United Methodist Church, shared a devotional and led the students in prayer. We are grateful for our students and their prayers. #educationofmindandheart #seeyouatthepole

"Miss" Suzy and "Miss" Angie's kindergarten students were so excited to meet their senior buddies for the first time this week for donuts in the Hive! Throughout the school year, the seniors and kinder buddies will get together for fun activities and events, including a field trip in the spring.
