New Cafeteria Services Selected for
2018-19 School Year

The Board of Trustees has selected Flik Independent School Dining as our new cafeteria services provider for the upcoming 2018-19 school year. Flik was chosen among several food management companies following a complete review which included input from students and parents via an online survey and a recommendation from a parent committee tasked with researching, summarizing information, reviewing proposals, and visiting cafeterias in other independent schools.

We look forward to having Flik on our campus for the new school year and have high expectations that this partnership will be a great, long-term fit for our school. We are excited about the nutritional menus and services that Flik will be offering for our students, faculty, and staff, and we anticipate only a very minimal increase in the cost. Additional information regarding Flik and our meal plan program, including pricing, will be distributed this summer. Please take a moment to learn more about Flik through their website at http://www.flikisd.com .

Thank you for sharing feedback with us through the review process. We appreciate your participation and support of our efforts to continue providing healthy, nutritious cafeteria services for our school community.

Second Graders Share Their Very Own "Best Parts"
Our second graders have been studying the human body and learning that each and every part of the body is essential. They each chose their best body part and combined the art of photography and creative writing for a wonderful display called “the best part of me” featured in our Lower School building. Truly, our children are “fearfully and wonderfully made.” #westfieldthirdgrade #westfieldscience #westfieldart #creativewriting #educationofmindandheart
Third Graders Prepare for "Market Day"
Experience for Lower School
Our third grade "entrepreneurs" are putting their artistic, creative, and math skills, along with their knowledge about business and economics from social studies, to work in preparing for their upcoming Market Day 2018. Click here or on the image above to take a look at how students are learning about what it takes to create a business, design and manufacture products (all of our recyclables), advertise, market, sell, deliver, and track inventory and revenue through their upcoming Market Day. #handsonlearning #westfieldthirdgrade
Westfield Sophomore Nominated for National Science and Technology Leadership Program
Congratulations to Jacob Marcella who has been nominated for the Congress of Future Science and Technology Leaders to be held June 29th - July 1st, in Lowell, Massachusetts.. The Congress is an honors-only program for high school students who are passionate about science, technology, engineering or mathematics (STEM). The purpose of this event is to honor, inspire, motivate and direct the top students in the country who aspire to be scientists and technologists, to stay true to their dream and, after the event, to provide a path, plan and resources to help them reach their goal.

During the three-day Congress, Jacob Marcella will join students from across the country and hear Nobel Laureates and National Medal of Science recipients talk about leading scientific research; be given advice from deans of the world's top tech universities; be inspired by fellow teen science prodigies; and learn about cutting-edge advances and the future of science and technology.

STEM Day at Westfield!

Thank you to the Perry Area Chamber Of Commerce, Perry Dogwood Festival Hot Air Balloon Rally, and the Museum of Aviation at Robins Air Force Base for giving our entire student body an incredible opportunity to see hot air balloons inflated and ready for lift, and also to learn about the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics working together to make them work and fly! STEM Day included a special visit from the Wizard and our very own Dorothy (freshman Gracelyn Hughes) of the Perry Players' production of The Wizard of Oz ! Our Lower School students created special artwork in celebration of the hot air balloons! #STEM #handsonlearning #perryplayers #museumofaviation #perrydogwoodfestival #art

Middle School Mentoring: Helping Fifth Graders Learn What to Expect Next year
Building leaders is an important part of Westfield's mission to prepare students for college. This week, our sixth graders had an opportunity to share what it is like to be in middle school with our fifth grade students. The fifth graders enjoyed spending the morning with their sixth grade mentor, visiting classrooms, and meeting the Middle School teachers. What is middle school really like? Our fifth graders are finding out first hand as they shadow with sixth grade buddies and visit classes this morning! #educationofmindandheart
