The Father's Heart Foundation Update
"And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith...Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners,  so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.” (Excerpt from Hebrews 12)
Have you ever wondered what it must have been like to be the men and women of faith who lived in the old testament Bible times? Those listed as “heroes of the faith” in Hebrews 11? Those whose faith was counted to them as righteousness?
Can you imagine Noah and his sons? Building an ark…do you think they ever considered giving up? 120 years! It took them 120 years! After 10 years here, there have been so many times when we wanted to give up…but, we are pressing on! We refuse to give up! The children are waiting…they are crying out to God, who hears them and commands us to care for them.
We are committed to speaking up for those who cannot speak for themselves and to spending ourselves on behalf of the needy… will you join us? 

We have been very busy over the past few months, here is some of what we have accomplished since January:  
1) Paperwork and legal processes:
  • to be able to extend electricity to the property
  • to be able to submit everything for building permits
  • to fulfil all of the government requirements and (new since our founding) processes to be able to receive orphaned children into our FHF Village
  • Annual temporary residency (always a long and costly process!)
2) Websites/Social Media:
  • We have also updated the USA website
  • Created a simple Canadian website (required by CRA), and NOW launching our new and improved Canadian website! 
3) We have been working on:
  •  Networking
  • Father’s Heart Coffee
  • Interviewing potential staff
  • Sharing the Gospel and making disciples. 
  • Literacy Casses
  • Kid's Club and Sports Outreach
  • Short Term Teams
  • Development on the aquaponics system!
  • We also have a few new full and part time Salvadoran, American and Canadian volunteers (who we will introduce in our next email or who you can read about on our website(s)!

This May & June!

The Okurut family will be travelling to Kentucky (for the CAFO summit -Katie Luehm is also attending -to learn and network!). The Okurut's are also able to share in a church and coffee shop), and to Ohio, Ontario, and British Columbia in May & June, to speak for the (circa) 120, 000 orphaned and abandoned children in El Salvador. Children waiting for a home and family…with your help, we can build a village to place up to 150 of these into adoptive-style family.

While the Okuruts travel, we have 5 regular and other flex workers/volunteers keeping things going here in El Salvador! We are SO thankful for our growing team, and for all of the lessons along the way. Please pray for wisdom and discernment as we continue to build our team!

Here is a list of construction material needed to build our first residential (apartment) building. Once built, this building will enable us to give family to over 50 children:

  1. Sponsor a Bricklayer: $25/day or $650/month
  2. Provide 1 column: $1,200 
  3. Provide 1 beam: $1,500 
  4. Provide a truck- load (6 M3) of pre-mixed concrete = $800 
  5. Provide 200 pieces of rebar = 1,200 
  6. provide 1,000 Cinder blocks = $550
