January 20, 2014...New Orleans, La...The Anthony Bean Community Theater opens its 14th theater season with Tennessee William's "Cat On A Hot Tin Roof". One of William's best-known works and his personal favorite, the play won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1955. It will be directed by award winning director and producer, Tommye Myrick.

Ms. Myrick is the recipient of 2 Big Easy Awards as Best Director. She is a prot�g� of the famed American Broadway Theatre Producer and Director- Gene Frankel, was her directing coach, mentor, and lifelong friend until his death in 2005. Thrilled to be working with Anthony again after a 5 year hiatus, Miss Myrick finds " Cat on a HOT TIN ROOF" a riveting production to open the 2014 ABCT Theatre Season. 

 

Don't miss this well produced/directed production of Tennessee Williams' American Classic, starring WDSU News personality Damon Singleton in the lead role as BRICK Polite and former New Orleans School Board President and regular ABCT performer Gail Glapion as Big Mama and Big Daddy is portrayed by Alfred Aubry. Set Designed by Dane Rhodes. Lighting designed by Vic Woodward and Costumes by Wanda (Ms. B) Bryant.

Showtime and performances are February 7 - 23. Friday and Saturday at 8:00 pm, & Sunday matinee at 3:00 pm. Tickets are $20.00 for adults, $18.00 for students and seniors, and are available by calling the Box Office at (504) 862-7529. Cat on a Hot Tin Roof has all of the earmarks of William's unique dramas, involving as it does his

Gail Glapion stars as Big Mama

emotionally biographical themes of ambivalence in sexual orientation, disaffection, and difficulty in maintaining intimate relationships. The play concerns a young man's disaffection and descent into alcoholism following the death of his college friend, and his wife's efforts to make him stop drinking so that he can take over his dying father's plantation.
